Review: Body Glide

Body Glide anti-chafing balm

Every year I get people asking me what I use to help with thigh chafing, or chub rub. I’ve written about this a few times before (here and here). Lots of people have suggested Body Glide, so last summer I picked some up and gave it a go. Now that I have thoroughly tested it over the last year, I want to let you know what I thought. View Post

Torrid + Boohoo Clothing Haul

New Zealand plus size blogger Meagan Kerr wears Boohoo Plus Oversized Tee and Autograph Super Stretch Shorts

I know it’s been a hot minute since the Black Friday sales were actually on, but it took a while for some of my stuff to arrive and then the holidays happened, so we’re a little late. I still wanted to share what I picked out though, because some of these pieces are great staples, and they’re things you should know about, and I’ve got some info to share about fit and shipping and whatnot. Review: Landwhale by Jes Baker

New Zealand plus size blogger Meagan Kerr reads Landwhale by Jes Baker

Jes Baker (aka The Militant Baker) is seriously fucking funny. And she makes me cry. Basically, her writing manages to throw me from one end of the spectrum of human emotion to the other and back again. You might remember that I was a huge fan of Jes’s first book Things No One Will Tell Fat Girls, so it will probably come as no surprise that I pre-ordered my copy of her latest book Landwhale long before it came out. House of Boom

Ethical plus size fashion made in New Zealand by House of Boom

There’s a stylish new kid in town, and it’s House of Boom. Wellington-based Joanna McLeod has launched an ethically produced plus size clothing range in size 16-30  and this is definitely something you need to have on your radar.

Like many of us, Joanna was frustrated by a lack of ethical clothing options in larger sizes. Rather than just bemoaning the lack of options, she took action, and House of Boom was born. She wanted the pieces to be comfortable, to be made from cotton, and brightly coloured. Pockets were also essential – apparently an early idea for the shop name was “THANKS, IT HAS POCKETS!” which, let’s be honest, is always an appropriate response when you are wearing something that has actual functional pockets.
