I read a lot of articles when I was at uni about the wearing of black in Kiwi culture, including Doris De Pont’s Black: History of Black in Fashion, Society and Culture in New Zealand, which is well worth a read if you can get your hands on a copy. I’ve always loved wearing black, and as New Zealanders we wear a lot of it, so I thought I’d offer up some of my favourite basic black pieces for the upcoming autumn/winter season.

Trend Tip: New Boho

This spring is all about vibrant colour palettes, clashing patterns, and mixing textures. Aztec influences, geometric prints and ethnic patterns combine in one of this season’s hottest trends. With New Boho, the more you clash, the better!

To find out exactly what New Boho is and how to make the most of this colourful trend, check out my post on nzgirl. Want to know how to incorporate it in to your plus size wardrobe? Here are ten of my favourite pieces that embrace the New Boho trend…

Trend Tip: Denim

Denim is not so much a trend as it is an enduring classic.  It’s pretty much a Winter essential, so here are a few of my fave denim pieces around at the moment.

No longer is denim restricted to straight legged jeans, there are jeans of all different styles and colours, as well as shirts, dresses, skirts, and of course, the ever cool denim jacket.

However you decide to embrace the denim trend, let us offer this one piece of advice: only wear one piece of denim at a time.  Double denim should be reserved for cowboys and awkward family photos

The denim jacket is such a classic piece that I couldn’t go past this one – while there are heaps of denim jackets out there (including some you’ll see a little further down the page), this unadorned number really reflects traditional denim jacket design.  No colour, no embellishments, just denim awesomeness. Trend Tip: In The Navy

Navy blue is one of my favourite colours, so I thought I’d share with you some wonderful ways to wear it.

This dress combines three of my favourite things – lace, navy and black. It’s form fitting and fabulous, and designed to flatter any body shape.  View Post
