Plus Size Fashion at Farmers [Spring/Summer 2013]

In case you couldn’t tell from the hot sunny days and the random torrential downpours, spring is here! And with it, new season clothing.  Farmers was nice enough to give me a wee sneak peek at what they have in store for us curvy gals, including a couple of plus size brands that they haven’t previously stocked.

Farmers_SS13New season clothing can be either very exciting or quite disappointing when you’re talking about plus size clothing in a department store in New Zealand.  I’ve been a loyal Farmers customer all my life, because they usually have a pretty good selection of on trend clothing* and it’s a great combination of quality and affordability.

Farmers have two new plus size brands in store this season:

Free Woman (which is available in sizes 16-24 or XL-4XL), which I’ve only seen a couple of pieces from but was not particularly impressed by. I’m hoping that there will be a better selection of styles in store.

Nouvelle Woman (which is available in sizes 16-24, with kaftans available in sizes S-L), which looks quite promising. I’ve included a couple of my faves above, what do you think? I especially like the detailing on that dress and will definitely be trying that on!

They also have some old favourites:

Wild Child (which is available in sizes 16-24) is now back in all stores except Queen St Auckland, which is great news because I’ve found this to be the best plus size range at Farmers for a long time. As you can see above, I like quite a few of their pieces! There are a few pieces that come in a bunch of different colours, and I’m absolutely in love with that floral tunic! I pretty much want to try all of these things on.

Yourself (which is available in sizes 16-26 or L-4XL), has some really smart looking pieces this season that would be perfect for the office.

Now, I’ve only included the pieces that I really like in this post. Obviously it’s not an extensive view of all of the plus size offerings at Farmers, more of an overview to show you that they seem to have really upped their game. I’m hoping that this carries through to their swimwear, which will be available in store soon (I’ll be doing a swimsuit special closer to summer!).

Unfortunately Farmers doesn’t have an online store at the moment, but they do have plenty of locations around New Zealand.  To find your nearest Farmers store, please visit their website.

What’s your fave piece from Farmers’ new season styles?

*With the exception of autumn/winter 2013 – as you’ve heard me complain before, the sizing went all up the wop for a little bit, the plus size clothing was not stylish, and it was just generally not awesome.  Fortunately, Farmers seems to have upped their game and have some great pieces for this season  – keep up the good work guys!

Have just ironed a top by Wild Child that I bought at Farmers in Levin while in N.z. and got onto the site so I could check out the winter styles as love the Farmers clothes for us bigger girls While in the store I could have bought at lest 12 items. I am constantly asked where I bought these clothes. I love The Farmers and wish they had an on line store. At least now I can buy vouchers from them for family and friends over there.

Hey Kaye, that’s awesome! You’ll be happy to hear that the team at Farmers is in the process of getting their online store up and running. From what I’ve been told, it shouldn’t be far off

Love that Nouvelle dress up above, I like Farmers for the basic stuff, but have not really liked their other stuff, but might go and check them out and try the dress on 🙂

I like the polka dot items as well. I hate shopping at farmers just because I have never found the service very good or the clothes to be good quality. Maybe this year will be different. The floral tunic is gorgeous as are the polkadot tops.
