Hi, I’m Rachel – analyst by day and fledgling plus size blogger by night. I live in Auckland with my husband and fur babies.

I wanted to be involved in this project to push my own boundaries – it is easy to talk the body positive talk from the comfort of your living room with your other half playing much-harassed photographer!

My clothing choices are inspired by feeling feminine and comfortable in my skin – I’m incredibly low maintenance and I often find it’s hard as a plus size woman to look feminine, and stylish as well as being comfortable – because I refuse to live my life in shapewear and I refuse to live my life wearing what other people deem to be acceptable for a plus size woman.

I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t embarrassed about my body – even as a standard sized teenager, I was conscious of my shape and publicly (and frequently) yelled at by people in cars about my chest or bum. On my first date with my husband, I remember standing a set of lights in Hamilton and have a guy lean out of the car and spit at me while his friend called me a pig.

Body positivity is important because we only get one shot at this life and to spend your day trapped inside a body you hate is not an option for me. Self-hate is not an option for me. There are enough battles in life without having to battle against yourself!

First of all this dress looks AMAZING on you. You better werk.

This is probably a SUPER awkward question, and feel free to not answer it…what size are you wearing? I’m a curvy girl and was looking at getting this dress for myself and I stumbled on your post searching for pics of real women wearing it. I have had trouble with ordering things according to my measurements…The last dress I did order I ended up having to get it taken in 2 inches up top (didn’t have to do anything with the hips as it was a circle skirt). So anything you’d be willing to share would mean a lot. Again, you look fabulous.

This is a 2xl but I probably could have sized down. There is a firm “shaper” layer inside but it is stretchy, also you can totally go braless in this dress, which is another reason to size down! I hope this helps. X
