Mad about plaid

I’ve been hanging out for the weather to cool down a bit so that I can bring out my jeans and start wearing autumn clothes. The cooler weather isn’t quite here yet, but I’m really hoping we get it soon because I am seriously hanging out for everything that autumn brings – crunchy leaves, chilly mornings, gorgeous fall fashion…

One of the things that I’ve been searching for is a plaid shirt. I’ve never been able to find one that I can wear done up because buttons and large busts just don’t seem to work out. Not wanting to have to go for a guy’s shirt a few sizes bigger to accommodate my chest and hips (which would be too big in the arms and waist, and unflattering as heck on me), I spent a long time hunting for a soft flannel plaid shirt in my size that would work with my curves.

I got really excited when I saw this one from Loey Lane‘s latest Society+ collection, because it negated the need for buttons. When it arrived, I realised that it’s not the flannel fabric I was originally hoping for, but it is stretchy (meaning that my boobs and hips fit nicely!) and comfy as heck. It’s also thinner than flannel would be, which will make it great for layering under a sweater when it’s cold without it being bulky.

I’m going to be wearing this with jeans and boots a lot this autumn and winter – I’m thinking probably with skinny jeans mostly, but I did recently get some boyfriend jeans that I’ll have to try it with. I think I’ll still be on the lookout for a plaid top in the traditional flannel fabric, but I won’t be so concerned with if it can button over my bust without gaping. I think a plaid top unbuttoned over a white tee with black jeans would be a great winter look, what do you think?
