If it feels like summer is getting hotter, it is. The average temperature at my place is now 29ºC with most days sitting somewhere between 27-32ºC. Global warming is certainly making it’s presence felt – in previous summers it was more like 25ºC. Wearing light and cool clothes helps to minimise discomfort from the heat, so here’s what I’ve been wearing.

Fabric is always an important choice when it comes to clothing. I really like wearing linen/linen blends in summer to help keep me cool. Some people worry about linen crumpling or being high maintenance, but guess what? You don’t need to spend all your time ironing or steaming your clothes. The reality is that they’ll get creased as soon as you sit down. It’s perfectly fine to have clothes that look lived in!

A classic tee is an all year round staple. Remember that they come in different cuts so you might not love the fit of every style – that’s okay! I prefer a longer length tee with a slightly rounded hemline and a v neck. A few years ago I ended up buying Torrid Favorite Tunic Tees in eight different colours and I’ve been wearing them on repeat ever since!

I’ve become a fan of shorts more and more for summer. There’s such a big range of options when it comes to lengths these days. There’s everything from super short shorts to ones that are knee length (or even a little longer). I have a few pairs I like to wear for different occasions – my faves sit just below the knee.

I absolutely adore a swishy dress in summer (actually all year round, but especially in hot weather). There’s something really whimsical about being able to swish your skirt about!

If I’m wearing a swishy dress then I will most definitely be wearing some kind of chub rub shorts to help wick away sweat and prevent chafing. The Snag Tights chub rub shorts are my favourite as I find them nice and light to wear, but bike shorts will do in a pinch.

I love sleeveless dresses for staying cool in hot weather. I’ve especially been enjoying maxis for extra cover on my legs from the sun. On cooler days I layer a tee underneath my dresses, this is great for spring and autumn as well.
