Versatile Workwear

Finding great plus size workwear can be hard sometimes. As a fat woman with a big bust, button up shirts are not really my friend. Tops are often too short or low cut or made from fabric that makes me feel sweaty. So when I find things that would be good for the office and are actually comfortable, of course I need to share them with you.

This top is comfy, a good length and it doesn’t ride up. It’s a little higher necked than what I usually go for, but because I’m big busted I need some tops that aren’t so cleavage-y. The style is called The Staple Top and I think it’s aptly named. It’s definitely one of those styles that if I actually worked from the office more often I’d probably buy five in different colours and wear them on rotation because they work so well. Probably suitable for other occasions too, but I’m about to start work so my brain is in work mode.

These pants are good for work but also every other occasion. They’re a dream to wear and go with everything so I’ve worn them loads since I got them. Made from ponti fabric, they’re stretchy (and comfortable) like leggings but thicker and structured like a pant. They have an insert on the lower leg of PU fabric that makes them a bit more interesting. I love a mixture of textures with an all black piece! It also matches the biker style jacket I got earlier this year.

Both of those pieces are definitely what I’d call workwear staples. Extremely versatile, they can easily be mixed and matched with so many other pieces (and can also work for so many other occasions). Wearing different jackets or layering pieces can really change up the look – this vest is reversible and that instantly makes it a really versatile piece. It also has pockets no matter which way you wear it – what a stroke of genius! I can’t decide which way I prefer, navy or black – what do you think?

For a more casual look I’d wear a bomber jacker like this 17 Sundays one, with some sneakers. Perfect for anything from doing the school run to grabbing a drink after work.

So there you have it – a couple of my versatile workwear staples that can be paired with pieces I already have. What kind of things do you wear for work? Let me know if you’re struggling to find (or style) something – perhaps I can help.
