How to style a bodysuit

Bodysuits are great for spring and autumn, when we’re going through that changeable weather that’s not quite warm and not quite cold. These are the times when you want to be able to layer up, making it easy to add and remove items depending on what the temperature is doing – especially if you live somewhere that has four seasons in one day, like I do. They are also ideal for wearing in place of a top, because they give you that seamless fit underneath your outfit and solve the problem of tops coming untucked. I’d never worn a bodysuit before, so when Sonsee asked me to style one of theirs I gladly took up the challenge. View Post

Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice was one of my favourite films growing up, not just because I found it so entertaining but because I absolutely adored the outfits. Lydia’s were my favourite (did my usual all black aesthetic give that away?) but I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t partial to the striped suit that Beetlejuice wore (I mean, hello – stripes!). Double Take: Isla-Maree Miracle Dress

It’s important to me that my clothes are versatile. While I am a serial outfit repeater and will gladly wear the same clothes over and over (because going with what you love is important, right?), I want to be able to change them up for different occasions, different seasons, different moods. Take the Isla-Maree Miracle Dress for example: it has a reversible neckline (so you can wear it either way depending on your mood) and can be styled for almost any weather in a number of ways. Make sure you’re paying attention, because (spoiler alert!) you could win one of your own… View Post

My Active Body

When I look at the models in activewear ads, I never see bodies like mine. The fat, lumpy bodies with rolls and big thighs and tummies. My body is the kind of body that’s shown as a “before picture”, not as one that is active. Sometimes people with bodies like mine are photographed and made fun of, as I shared on my Facebook page recently, and quite a few people told me that things like this make them feel uncomfortable going to the gym or exercising in public. I don’t give a shit if you’re fat or thin, have wobbly bits or washboard abs, I think that everyone should have the right to exercise if they want to. View Post

Time to get comfortable

Gone are the days of high heels, uncomfortable g strings and hemlines I’m constantly pulling down, one thing I look for in my clothes now is comfort. As someone who works from home, I freely admit that I quite often get up and shower only to put on a clean pair of pyjama pants (come on, don’t tell me you wouldn’t wear pyjamas all the time if you could!). When I have to put on real world clothes, being comfortable is key. View Post
