I read a lot of articles when I was at uni about the wearing of black in Kiwi culture, including Doris De Pont’s Black: History of Black in Fashion, Society and Culture in New Zealand, which is well worth a read if you can get your hands on a copy. I’ve always loved wearing black, and as New Zealanders we wear a lot of it, so I thought I’d offer up some of my favourite basic black pieces for the upcoming autumn/winter season.

Trend Tip: Teal

As we transition from winter in to spring, we’re seeing gorgeous new spring/summer lines of clothing in stores and teal is one of the stand out colours. Whether you go for a darker shade or a lighter one, teal is great for all skin tones.

This dress is super smart, and I absolutely adore the detailing.  I’d definitely pair this with some tights, as it is still a bit nippy out and the hemline is rather high…  View Post

Trend Tip: Spot On

I love spots, on everything from shoes to nails. You can dress up your spots to make them corporate, dress them down for a casual outfit, or change your spots for a night out…

It might still be cold, but my mind is firmly ensconced in the warmer months to come.  This cute frock can be paired with stockings and a cardi or blazer if you can’t wait til the weather warms up! View Post
