Back to basics

Plus size clothing basics - River Island Plus white scoop neck tee from River Island, Warpaint Joggers from 17 Sundays; Kate Madison Khaki Jacket from The Warehouse

As you might have noticed, I haven’t been sharing very many outfit photos lately. I mentioned that I’d lost my mojo and have been struggling with feeling confident in front of the camera since I had my hair cut, and while I’ve been recovering from surgery, and this is the first outfit post I’m posting on my blog in more than a month.  I might have been quiet lately, but I’m back with a fresh head of colour and I’m going back to basics. Time to find my mojo again. View Post

Sculptured

One thing I’ve noticed in the world of plus size fashion, is how often we use terms like flattering to describe clothes that create the illusion of you being smaller, more hourglass shaped (which is apparently the ideal body shape) or that hide supposed “flaws”. Quite often, people tell me that things I wear are not flattering because they accentuate my wide hips or they are fitted to my body or, in complete contradiction, are not fitted to my body. Hide yourself in fabric, but not too much or you’ll look fat. View Post

Athleisure

I’ve always struggled with casual outfits, because I believed for so I long that as a fat woman I had to put more effort into my appearance than smaller women do, and I thought that casual was too casual so I ended up way overdressed a lot of the time. When a thin woman wears sweatpants and has her hair in a messy bun, she’s cute and relaxed. When a fat woman does the same she is seen as lazy and like she doesn’t care about her appearance. I know right, what the heck? View Post

A Casual Affair

Jeans, a tee and a khaki jacket is a pretty classic outfit, a great go to when you’re after something casual but still put together. Add trainers, a red lip and some sunglasses and you are good to go! I work from home most of the time and lipstick doesn’t happen very often (although I am trying to wear it more often to add a pop of colour to my mostly black outfits). View Post

Summer Girl

New Zealand plus size blogger Meagan Kerr wears white tee from Torrid and Kate Madison blue denim shorts from The Warehouse

I’ve just come back from my summer holiday and one thing that I wore a lot (as predicted!) was my shorts. The weather has been every thing from super hot and humid to chilly and stormy, and my shorts have been a really great go to that are easy to throw on with a tee or a singlet. View Post
