Review: Snag Tights

Snag Tights in Pumpkin Spice

I’ve been seeing Snag Tights popping up a lot recently in my social media feed, and I was instantly drawn in by the bold bright colours. Everything I saw led me to believe that these would be the best stockings ever to grace my fat legs. But you know, you can’t always trust what you see online. I’ve seen people raving about products that I’ve bought and they turned out to be duds. People were only raving about them because they’d been sent them for free or were being paid to promote them. And so here I am, your friendly fat guinea pig – putting the tights to the test to see if they are actually the best thing ever.

Snag Tights offers a discount – the more pairs you buy, the bigger the discount. And so I bought five pairs of tights, in varying colours. I think that picking the colours was pretty hard, because I’m traditionally a black on black on black kind of girl, and bright colours don’t often make their way into my wardrobe. I really wanted to get bright colours that I’d actually wear so I went for more autumnal colours (Raspberry Pie, Shepherds’ Delight and Pumpkin Spice) along with a couple of pairs of plain black because some of my older ones aren’t a great fit anymore or have holes so I’ve had a bit of a clear out.

What’s the fit like?

I spent a long time staring at the size chart, trying to figure out what size would work best. According to the chart, I’m a size F (I’m 5’4″ and usually a size 26). But I have really fat thighs, and past experience tells me that sometimes isn’t taken in to account when it comes to stockings. I often have to size up, but I didn’t want to buy a whole bunch of tights from the other side of the world and then have them not fit. That would be a complete pain in the arse! In the end I reached out to Snag Tights via Instagram and explained my issue. They told me that I should go with the F because their tights are super stretchy.

When I initially put them on I was a bit concerned once I got them up to my knees. It felt like they were going to be too tight in the thigh, but once I got them on they were all good – firm but not too tight. They don’t roll down or slip down, and I don’t have to wear a pair of anti-chafing shorts over the top to help hold them up. This is a real novelty because I’ve had to do that with the majority of tights that I’ve worn in the past. I thought that was pretty normal? Nope, just turns out that all those other tights weren’t actually a great fit! So I’d actually go so far as to say that my Snag Tights are the best fitting stockings I’ve ever worn. I know, big call.

What’s the fabric like?

All the pairs I chose were 80 denier because I feel the cold easily and want the warmest possible tights. The stockings feel really luxurious, are super soft to touch and so nice to wear. They have plenty of stretch and are just overall really lovely.

The 80 denier tights I ordered are actually properly opaque. I don’t get sheer spots over my knees when I sit down and they’re stretched out. The colours are bright and bold, and honestly pretty damn cool!

Cost and shipping

As I mentioned, Snag Tights offers a discount the more pairs you buy (rather than doing offers and sales). 10% off for 3 or more items; 15% off for 5 or more items; 25% off for 10 or more items. I got five pairs, so that worked out to be £5.94 per pair. They took a week and a half to arrive and shipping was £10, so all up it cost me £39.70 (NZD $80.19).

My verdict

With the discount, my Snag Tights worked out to be about NZD $16 per pair including shipping. That is cheaper than a lot of pairs I’ve seen in store here in New Zealand. They are soft, comfortable and easily the best fitting tights I’ve ever owned. Not only do I thoroughly recommend Snag Tights, I will absolutely be ordering from them again.

Thanks. I have seen these too and checked out the website. I am short but with heavy thighs and calves, so I usually have to get a large and wear another pair of briefs over the top to stop the crotch drooping. Always good tho read an honest review from someone tht you trust. The colours are fab!

Sounds like you’re a similar shape to me! I’m usually the same Sue, but happy to report that undies only need to be worn on the outside if I’m pretending to be a superhero 🦸🏽‍♀️ This is the only brand I’ve ever been able to do it with and I’m so thrilled!

Thanks for the recommendation for the tights. I just received my first pairs and they are amazing. So comfy and the colours are just fabulous! I like that they come in non fussy coloured paper packages. I’m a NZ size 20 with a generous behind and I have found the F to be a perfect fit. Here’s to a long snag relationship!

Thank you for this review. From your guidance I contacted Snagtights through IG as I wasn’t 100% sure on sizing (tossing up between F & G) and they were super helpful. Now to decide what I buy!

They look fantastic on you Meagan. I love the idea of those, I have spend a lot of time trying to find a good stocking that is thick and fits a bigger person. I just learnt not to wear if I ever wore a dress. I only wear 3/4 pants and thin summer pants all year around now. I like the idea of the shorts though.

Thanks Fiona, definitely an essential for me in autumn and winter because I get so cold!

These tights have come up in my feed so many times I finally decided to give them a go- I went with black, slate grey, and navy. The colours are perfect for winter and the tights couldn’t fit better. Definitely the best fitting tights I’ve ever bought!

    • May 29, 2019 / 12:05 pm

So glad you love them too! I really want to add the grey and navy to my collection (and a whole bunch of other colours, let’s be honest)

I love reading this, as I just put in my first order for them on the weekend. I ordered 6 pairs… colours plus one pair of fish net. I was reading hesitantly your experience with their sizing as it is always like playing roulette. I breathed a huge sigh of relief to read yours fitted and that they were great!!!
I can’t wait to get mine and wear them with my winter clothes.
You look great in the pop of colour, bringing your own winter sunshine 🙂

    • May 29, 2019 / 9:13 am

I’m so happy to hear that you’ve already ordered! And yes, they’re a perfect fit. Let me know how you get on with the fishnets, I don’t wear them so I didn’t grab any but would love to know if sizing and fit is the same as the regular stockings.

I don’t wear fishnets -yet, either! But I did like their suggestion that you could wear them over the coloured tights…. so we’ll see how that goes.

That sounds like a fun idea!

    • May 29, 2019 / 9:11 am

Thanks Carol-ann, definitely something new for me! I reckon that because I wear dark colours and neutrals so much the tights really pop!
