Sure, we all know that we need to wear sunscreen in summer, when that harsh sun is blazing down on us, but what about winter? When it’s cold and we are wearing three layers plus a coat, a scarf and a beanie?
Long story short, yes. Even in winter, you still need to protect your skin from UV radiation! It’s not just about reducing the chance of premature ageing, although UVA rays definitely contribute to that, but more about reducing your risk of developing skin cancer! Seeing as it’s cold and you are probably already quite covered up, at the very least, you should be wearing some kind of SPF on your face. There are a couple of ways you can go about this…
Use a moisturiser with an SPF
This is always going to be the easiest way of doing things, and will ensure that you don’t forget – use a moisturiser that has an SPF! That way it’s already part of your routine and you won’t have to do anything that you’re not already doing. You may already have this one sorted – check your moisturiser, if it has an SPF it should let you know about that on the packaging. I’ve been using Dermalogica’s Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF30, which is a medium weight daily moisturiser that is part of Dermalogica’s AGE smart range. While ageing isn’t a particular concern of mine, I love how hydrating the whole range is and highly recommend it, especially this moisturiser.

Make sure you remember to apply sunscreen to any other parts of you that are exposed (especially the backs of your hands!) and keep your lip balm on hand to prevent chapped lips!

I’d like to try anything, I have dry skin from working indoors, and being so busy I barely get time to look after my skin like I should. My absolute favourite is their Barrier Repair from the UltraSensitive range. I use it as a primer and it’s divine, so velvety.
I regrammed an instagram of theirs and got some samples. I used the MultiVitamin Power Firm twice and fell in love. Finding a good eye cream can be a pain but this was lovely and smooth.
I haven’t tried Dermalogica before but the Solar Defense Booster sounds brilliant! My current moisturuser is only SPF15 so it would be handy to get a bit of extra protection from the sun

I have never tried Dermalogica before but a sun smart product like the AGE Smart Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF50 moisturiser would be great to try as I am UV sensitive and am currently avoiding the sun by wearing peaked hats and gloves even when its not cold as they are the best defence I have.
I love love love the Age Smart Antioxidant Hydromist! It is such an amazing product which leaves my skin so hydrated and just feeling so well balanced!
I love the skin hydrating masque. It is just brilliant. I use it especially when travelling as it is clear and you can apply it on the train, bus or airplane without looking silly! It smells a tiny bit funny but not terrible. Rather expensive but really worth it.
I love the daily microfoliant but after reading this I am adding the Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF50 moisturiser to my ‘must try’ list! I am always on the look out for the perfect SPF moisturiser for my pale skin.
