Fat Babe Pool Party, design by Nicole Lim

#FATFEB is set to be a season of radical fat positivity with Vunilagi Vou, a contemporary Pacific art gallery in Ōtāhuhu, naming FAT as the theme of their February 2020 programme and hosting a Fat Babe Pool Party alongside artist and fat activist Lissy Cole. I for one am VERY excited, and I hope that you will be too – here’s the lowdown on what’s happening when and how you can join in. View Post

The Best Plus Size Black Friday Sales 2019

The best plus size Black Friday sales 2019

It’s that wonderful time of year when there are bargains galore to be had – this is the best time of year for shopping online with Black Friday and Cyber Monday (or Cyber Weekend) sales happening all over the show.

Some of the deals on over this weekend are pretty amazing, so here are some of the plus size clothing sales I’ve found (and yes I know I’m posting this very early, but some are already starting!). I’ll update these as I become aware of them (or as I’m allowed to talk about them), so make sure you keep checking back or let me know if there is one I’ve missed. View Post

Five ways to relax

Relaxing isn’t really one of my strong points. When my therapist asked me what my hobbies were, I was kind of silent because honestly, I don’t really have any. Once the things I did as a hobby (photography and writing about fashion) became a part time job, they stopped being the relaxing “hobby” they used to be. Since then, I’ve been trying to find ways to relax, things to do in my down time, that aren’t “work”. Things that allow me to switch off. Here’s a few things I have tried (some with more success than others!) in case you need to unwind too. View Post

Diversity in Fashion

When I was a teenager, I’d flick through fashion magazines and never see anyone like me (even when I was thin – not a lot of Māori girls in those fashion mags in the 90’s). Whether it was catwalks, catalogues or celebrity style, almost everyone looked the same. They were tall, young, white, slim and able bodied. Fast forward twenty years and not all that much has changed. While we do see a small amount of diversity in fashion these days, I don’t think that it’s enough. The majority of bodies that we are seeing are still tall, young, white, slim and able bodied. View Post

Wands at the ready for all things Harry Potter

Hands up if you’re a fan of the wizarding world of Harry Potter. I most definitely am – I’ve read the books, watched the films countless times, played LEGO Harry Potter on my PS4, and I’ve been playing Wizards Unite since it was in Beta (more on that in a minute). Naturally, this Ravenclaw gets really excited when new HP stuff comes out! Here’s a few things that have caught my eye lately. View Post
