As you may have noticed, I’ve been making moves back to basics with my wardrobe. Lots of of blacks, greys and stripes, just how I like it. It’s anything but boring though, especially when I find clothes that are really versatile or have cool detailing. When I look at the models in activewear ads, I never see bodies like mine. The fat, lumpy bodies with rolls and big thighs and tummies. My body is the kind of body that’s shown as a “before picture”, not as one that is active. Sometimes people with bodies like mine are photographed and made fun of, as I shared on my Facebook page recently, and quite a few people told me that things like this make them feel uncomfortable going to the gym or exercising in public. I don’t give a shit if you’re fat or thin, have wobbly bits or washboard abs, I think that everyone should have the right to exercise if they want to. View Post

Yesterday an article on Stuff mentioned that size 18 is the top seller at New Zealand department store Farmers. They also mentioned that many New Zealand retailers only go to a size 14-16 – something that many of you wish wasn’t the case. One of the things so many people say to me about New Zealand plus size fashion is that they would love to have the options available in straight size – there are so many different designs, prints and colours that are difficult to find in bigger sizes – especially if you want to shop in store and be able to try things on!
