Summer party season is almost upon us and I’ve had a lot of people asking where to find dresses for Christmas Day, pre-Christmas event frocks, New Years Eve party dresses, a killer ball gown or prom dress, the perfect wedding guest attire … you name it. So I’ve done a bit of legwork and found ten great places to shop – hopefully this helps you find something that you like!
ASOS
When I started shopping online, ASOS was the first place I shopped. Their prices are pretty reasonable, shipping is quick (and usually free), and the selection is absolutely enormous. Sizes range from 2-30.
City Chic
I’m pretty sure that City Chic is a go to for most plus size Kiwi babes – they have a bunch of stores around New Zealand so not only can you order online but you can also head in store – perfect if you need a great outfit at short notice! Sizes range from XS-XXL (14-24).
Missguided
Missguided has some really great clothes, and I love that their plus size range is really on trend and is on par with their straight size range. They have dresses that are perfect for everything from a day at the beach to dancing the night away in a bar, with both casual and dressy options to choose from. Sizes range from 4-24.
ModCloth
ModCloth is like the glamorous older sister I never had, with gorgeous dresses for every occasion. To be honest, you could even get your wedding dress from there! Sizes range from XS-4X (approx 4-34).
Navabi
Sometimes the situation will call for a full on fancy red carpet worthy gown. This is something that Navabi really excels at – they have a stunning selection of formal dresses by high end designers that will make you look like a star. Sizes range from 12-34.
Rita Sue Clothing
If pin up, rockabilly or vintage style dresses are your jam, Rita Sue Clothing has frocks from a whole range of lovely designers. She has a store in Central Auckland or you can shop online, with sizes ranging from XS-4XL.
The Iconic
With a collection of great brands like 17 Sundays, Advocado, Embody Denim, Harlow, Hope & Harvest, Lala Belle and Love Your Wardrobe; The Iconic is a great place to find the best of the best. You can even pick up a pair of shoes and a clutch while you’re there! Sizes range from 4-26.
Torrid
Torrid has some cute dresses that can be worn out clubbing or for special events but will still work in with an everyday wardrobe if you like to dress a bit fancy. Sizes range from US 12-28, which is 16-32 in New Zealand sizing.
Taking Shape
Another place that has stores in New Zealand (making it a great place to pick up a party dress at short notice) is Taking Shape. I really like the structured dresses they do for the races, they make being chic so simple. Sizes range from XXS-XL (12-24) and their sizing is quite generous so definitely still worth a try if you’re a 26.
Yours Clothing
I think that Yours Clothing has one of the biggest range of plus size party dresses out there, there are so many lovely styles to choose from. This is by and far one of my favourite stores to buy online from because of the wide selection and the very reasonable prices. Their sizes range from 16-38, I’ve shopped here a few times and thoroughly recommend them.

I really love the baby blue lace dress from Missguided. It’s so pretty and could definitely be worn all year round!
