Where to buy plus size jeans

Where to buy plus size jeans nz

Winter is most definitely jeans weather, but if you’re anything like me then you will know the very real struggle of finding plus size jeans that fit in all the right places. Thanks to the assumption of designers who seem to think that because we are bigger in the waist we also must have super long legs, fat babes have long been hemming their too long trousers. Luckily, this has improved with the popularity of online shopping and the demand for different leg lengths. You can now check out the length of your trousers and shop accordingly meaning that long legged babes can find pants that fit and so can I … over here with my short little legs. Something that is super hard to find? Size 24+ jeans. At least, it is in New Zealand – many retailers that stock plus sizes end at a size 24/26. Thank goodness for the internet…

Jeans over a size 24

Torrid Plus Size 24+ Jeans

Torrid

Skinny, boyfriend, bootcut… Torrid has them all, in different washes, lengths and distressed in different ways. Torrid sizing is US 12-28 which translates to 16-32 in New Zealand sizes. While you’re checking out their denim range, make sure you peruse the rest of the Torrid site – there are loads of great things to choose from! Do remember that shipping costs differ based on the weight of your order – the heavier your parcel, the more you’ll pay.

Yours Clothing Plus Size 24+ Jeans

Yours Clothing

Yours Clothing has a great selection of lengths, colours, fits… you name it. Their sizes range from US 14-32, which is 18-36 in New Zealand sizing. I’ve purchased things from Yours Clothing a few times before and would definitely advise you to order according to their size chart. I find that Yours has some of the quickest shipping of any online store I’ve ordered from – to get your order from the UK to NZ usually takes less than a week.

Lee Plus Size 24+ Jeans

Lee Jeans

This might come as a surprise, but did you know that Lee Jeans does plus sizes? Yep, from US 16W-30W (NZ 20-34)! They don’t offer them through the New Zealand store, which is a bit of a bummer, but you can shop through the US store and use a forwarding service like YouShop or Shipitto.

Cato Plus Size 24+ Jeans

Cato

I hadn’t come across Cato until I began my hunt for extended denim sizing, so I would love to hear from anyone who has shopped with them. They have sizes US 14W-34W (NZ 18-38), and only ship within the US so you’ll need to use a forwarding service.

Old Navy Plus Size 24+ Jeans

Old Navy

I have heard so many great things about Old Navy and have spent a fair few hours browsing their site! They have sizes US 16-30/1X-4X (NZ 20-34), and they ship to NZ, woohoo!

Avenue Plus Size 24+ Jeans

Avenue

Avenue has a really nice range including some great denim options. They have sizes US 14-32 (NZ 18-36), and they do ship to New Zealand.

Just a word about Fullbeauty. Be extremely careful when buying from their site. 48 hours ago I purchased a load of clothing from them – $299.00 worth, but the amount they held against my credit card was for $363.00. I cancelled the order immediately which they said they had done. I also asked them to release the funds to which they have not replied. It pisses me off because of how close it is to Christmas, the dollar amount and the fact that I’ve now got to go into my bank and file a dispute. The only reason why went to that site was because their sizes exceed sz32 in jeans but now that I’ve had a look at the company reviews, I will never go back. Just a warning.

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll have to check them out!

I just ordered some pants from Old Navy as Borderfree is a really awesome service. Unfortunately although i paid $70NZD for 6-11 day shipping, yes $70NZD, Old Navy still hasnt sent my items 5 working days later. I decided to email them to confirm that everything was ok with the order and they are now telling me that the correct esitmate should have been 11-24 days despite what I was told during the check out process!! They still havent even sent my order to Borderfree yet 🙁 bit of a waste of $70 shipping. I hope the pants are worth it when they finally arrive though!!

Oh man, that’s lame! I hope your pants arrive soon and they’re awesome! xo

Thank you for taking the time to research this. I get so frustrated when I do any research and find that my size is not included. You opened my eyes up to some places that I never knew existed and some that I had no idea sold “MY” size. I am on the larger end of the plus size, which sometimes makes things doubly frustrating. Thank you Thank you Thank you 🙂

You’re more than welcome Serena! I’ve got a post coming about great places to shop over a size 24, keep an eye out for it! xo

You are a gem for putting this list together, thank you! I pretty much live in jeans for work, home and play so always seem to be on the hunt for them. Most recently Kmart had a decent style that fitted well so I confess I scooped up 6 pair (they were only $15) and best of all at 5’3″ I didn’t have to take them up! Farmers don’t seem to have the range they used to although the last pair I bought there are brilliant – they have a hidden piece of elastic in the waistband that you can tighten up with a button to get rid of the gap at the back. I’ve also been eyeing up Modcloth – I’m liking the look of the Sailorette jeans but not sure what their sizing is like. Has anyone else tried them? http://www.modcloth.com/shop/pants/set-sailorette-jeans-in-black-plus-size

Good on you for striking while the iron was hot and getting six pairs! That is a bargain and so worth it if you wear them often 😀

My biggest problem with plus size jeans are they are often made in “stretch” denim, so I find they may fit great when I first put them on but a couple of hours later they can be baggy in all the places they are meant to be more fitted like around the butt and around the knees so frustrating!

    • July 11, 2015 / 7:57 pm

I’ve never had that problem – mine fit the same all the time? Keep an eye on the percentage of elastane in the trousers, that’s what will give it the stretch xo

Thanks for this timely review! Ive been looking for some new jeans and have now put in an order at Torrid for Jegging Jeans and some tops and jumpers, you know while im there… now I just have to wait for the delivery!

    • July 11, 2015 / 6:12 pm

You’re more than welcome, let me know what you think of the Torrid ones! xo

Dorothy Perkins from the UK, I’m actually in South Korea but I know they also ship to New Zealand as my friend has had some sent there. Shipping is not too bad, around 10 pounds but if you wait they often have specials on when you can get free shipping. Dorothy Perkins has great plus sized clothing, the fit is great and the items really pretty (I sound like a sales person but I’m not just a big fan, I can’t get my size here in Asia so they have been a lifesaver for me). They also do different lengths for the legs too which is great for me as I’m short too and had getting things taken up.

    • July 8, 2015 / 10:51 am

Thanks for the heads up! I just had a look at their site and they have so many jeans options! 125 choices in a size 22, holy moly.

      • July 8, 2015 / 6:58 pm

No problem, I should be a sales rep for them lol I have put so many of my friends onto them. Especially as they do all sizes from petit all the way to plus. I do sometimes have problems choosing especially as I don’t want to go over the duty and pay for customs. Its a headache here in Korea as I don’t speak a lot of the language.

Love my jeans from Yours Clothing! Brought a pair to try, loved them so ordered more 🙂 I didn’t get them as quickly as you did but I still got them within a few weeks

    • July 8, 2015 / 10:34 am

Awesome! I’m starting to wish I’d ordered a pair of jeans in my latest haul, my ones from a few seasons ago are just starting to go and will probably need replacing soon

I don’t think you can get them online, but I love the Wild Child and Yourself brand jeans from Farmers. I usually buy mine from the clearance rack. 😛

    • July 8, 2015 / 10:45 am

I just had a look at their online selection and have to recommend going in store rather than shopping online, as there is so much more choice in terms of size and style. Good call on the clearance rack too, they have some good sales

  12. July 6, 2015 / 8:59 pm

Old Navy is awesome. Such good prices and the clothes are pretty decent quality.

  13. July 6, 2015 / 6:45 pm

I’m not entirely sure about the 24+ section but I have previous got good jeans in a 20 from Asos, and currently have 18 from Kmart!

    • July 6, 2015 / 9:14 pm

Kmart is a tough one – because they have no online presence it’s a bit hard to link to their current stock 🙁 I’ll add ASOS to the list though!

      • July 6, 2015 / 9:47 pm

I’m surprised they aren’t online! NZ retailers seem to be a bit slow to get online.

        • July 6, 2015 / 9:49 pm

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that one day they will be – so much potential there!

I’m pretty sure that Old Navy does indeed ship straight to NZ but I’ve yet to personally order from them.

Also: the main places I buy pants/jeans from online are Asos Curve and New Look Inspire both carry at least a few pairs of plus size jeans year-round (up to an NZ28) and both ship directly to NZ. Fullbeauty.com (used to be onestopplus.com) also posts direct to NZ and go up to over a size 40NZ (yes, 40+) in lots of items, most of their jeans go into at least the 30’s from what ive seen. Evans.co.uk also sells plus size jeans and pants, up to a NZ32.

      • July 6, 2015 / 9:30 pm

Awesome to hear that ASOS has extended their sizing! Also, thanks for the heads up about Full Beauty – I didn’t realise that One Stop Plus had rebranded, I thought they’d disappeared!

    • July 6, 2015 / 9:16 pm

That’s weird, their website indicates otherwise. I’ll have to get in touch with them and double check

I have ordered from Old Navy and had it deliver to NZ. Postage is pretty steep though. They also don’t include international orders on their sale discounts (often 30-50% off) which is a pity.

        • July 8, 2015 / 10:32 am

Thanks for the heads up! Such a shame they don’t include us on their sale discounts! What’s the quality of their stuff like, do you think it’s worth the postage/price?
