This is NZFW 2013: Day Two

NZFW_logoDay two of New Zealand Fashion Week was pretty brief for me – I only attended one show because I had to go to uni classes and submit an assignment (damn uni getting in the way of fashion!). Fortunately, the one show that I did manage to attend was Trelise Cooper and it was awesome!

The show was very different to anything else I saw during the week, with the stage being raised and a big square positioned about half way down (not the best description, but if you watch the show which I have linked below you’ll understand).

The designer showed two collections – the first, Cooper, was filled with tartan, studs, leather jackets (very punk inspired!), beautifully tailored pieces and gorgeous stained glass dome prints.

Then a large white tent came down from the ceiling to sit in the middle of the square. In beautifully choreographed movements, models wove in and out of the tent wearing the Trelise Cooper winter 2014 collection. The hair team did a snappy job of transforming the models’ hair into beehives, the girls donned sky high heels, and the collection seemed a little more grown up than what we’d seen previously.

There was a lot of beautifully textured fabric, and everything seemed to be crafted from the kind of material that you just want to touch. I like the amount of knee length/midi skirts I saw, please can we have a lot more of those! Florals and more sedate (and less punky) tartans made an appearance, with rich oxblood red, emerald greens, dusky pinks and sober greys sitting alongside some delicious black on black on black (keep an eye out for the amazing coat that features at 10:58 in the video). Roomy coats and military inspired jackets were a brilliant accompaniment to some beautifully feminine pieces, and all in all I loved this collection. Check out the full show here thanks to 3 News.

In case you were wondering, peplum is still definitely going to be featuring for a while yet (especially on jackets). Seeing as I’ve just gotten in to it, this is exciting!

That’s all from my second day of New Zealand Fashion Week – so many beautiful clothes to inspire your look next winter! I’ll be back with a report from day three of NZFW later in the week, but in the meantime – what was your favourite outfit from day two?
