This is NZFW 2013: Day Three

NZFWIt seems like NZFW was ages ago! And I guess it has been a few weeks … my bad. Life just kind of got in the way, and I didn’t have time to even look through my photos from day three and day four of New Zealand Fashion Week! I’m determined to remedy that post haste though, so while I have a spare moment I want to tell you about the New Zealand Fashion Designer group show that I went to on day three.

NZFD Group Show

Day three saw me at the New Zealand Fashion Designer group show, with autumn/winter 2014 collections from My Boyfriend’s Back, Millicent, Sheryl May, Mardle and Love Hotel.

My Boyfriend’s Back
Beautiful rich reds, lush velvets, floral designs and sheer fabrics made up this beautiful collection – it’s pretty much the perfect combination of everything I love in winter fashion! I’m looking forward to seeing more from designer Danielle Burkhart in the future! Unfortunately I didn’t manage to get any good pictures of the collection, but I’ll include a link below so you can see the show for yourself.

Millicent
This collection included teal, dark plum, and some stunning moss greens that would be just perfect with my copper hair. I am so looking forward to wearing these shades next autumn! Monochromatic checks made an appearance, and hemlines were longer and more sedate than what I saw at a lot of other shows. That’s one of the things that made the Millicent collection really stand out to me – the whole line is quietly sophisticated, with an understated sensuality. More of this please, designers! We don’t all want hemlines that barely cover our bottoms!

Sheryl May
I was super excited to see Sheryl May’s collection, because she’s from my home town of Gisborne (which, for those of you not familiar with NZ geography, is a beach town on the east coast. It’s the first place to see the sun and is my favourite place to relax and unwind!). Seriously, wow. This lady does the most amazing prints – the owls and the florals are to die for! I had the pleasure of checking out Sheryl’s clothes in person when I visited Flaunt PR recently and can confirm that the fabric feels as wonderful as it looks. This is definitely a designer to watch! I’d love to see so many of these pieces available in size Meagan…

Mardle
Mardle’s well tailored pieces were just breathtaking! I loved the styling of this collection and think that small details like the Triple Cross Collar chains made it look so polished and well put together. I love the red and navy blue, combined with the metallic pieces – just beautiful!

Love Hotel
This was a playful collection that perfectly captured how I imagined life as an artist in Paris to be when I was growing up – soft, romantic, dreamy and chic. Floaty chiffon, simple yet timeless black and white interspersed with blushing pink, Love Hotel’s collection was feminine and beautiful. I loved the bralets (especially the one in pink) and would definitely love to see these in plus sizes – I know I’d wear one for sure!

What was your favourite collection in the NZFD group show? Any particular stand-out pieces?
