This is WFW 2014: The Carpenters Daughter

My sole reason for heading down to Wellington was to attend The Carpenters Daughter’s runway show at Wellington Fashion Week. To some of you this might not be a big deal, you might just be thinking “so Meagan went to another fashion show, whatevs”, but for me it really was more than just another fashion show.

Wellington Fashion Week

We don’t see plus sized bodies on the catwalk in New Zealand. Like, I’ve never seen a woman over a size 16 on a catwalk here, and I’ve been to a lot of fashion events in my time. We just don’t get shows dedicated to plus size bodies. When I go to events for department stores that stock plus sizes, they often won’t show the plus size lines, or will only show a very very small selection, so to attend an entire show celebrating fashion for curvy babes actually blew my mind. Wellington Fashion Week 2014

Last weekend I travelled down to Wellington (our country’s capital) for Wellington Fashion Week. I had an amazing journey and I wanted to share it with you… I took a lot of pictures so get comfortable!

I used to travel to Wellington all the time on business, but it’s been a long time since I had the pleasure of visiting. It’s been five years, and it turns out that my love for this city has not waned one bit.

How to get fabulously fierce Fashion Week hair

I didn’t get a chance to head down to Wellington Fashion Week this year, because I’m super busy with my final year of uni (which means no fun trips away for me, boo!).  However, I have been avidly watching the instagram/twitter/facebook feeds to see all the goings on.

One show I wished I could have been at was the AW’13 Group Collections Showcase, which featured Trelise Cooper, Moochi, twoWORLDs, STORM, Mondegreen, Sabatini at Goodness, and Taylor. What a wonderful collection of designers!

Something that caught my eye was the hair styling – I love the edgy look pictured above!
