Swings and Roundabouts

You know how much I love a good striped dress, right? Striped anything really, just point it out and I’ll be there! When my friend Monique announced that she’d designed a few pieces for her label Dressing Room, I was super excited that one of the things she came up with was this gorgeous striped Swings and Roundabouts dress View Post

My workwear picks

Plus size workwear

I get so many people asking me where to find plus size workwear that I thought I’d scout out some ideas for you. As you know, I work from home and my days of dressing for the office are over, but I do really enjoy helping other people finding clothes they feel confident and awesome in, so let’s do this.

There are a lot of different dress codes out there when it comes to office outfits – some people have to have their shoulders covered; some must wear a suit; some can be as out there as they like. Then there’s the combination of what you want to wear – a blouse and tailored trousers, a skirt with a top, a blazer, a matching suit, a dress, with stockings or without? View Post

1 Item 3 Ways: The Check Shirt

New Zealand plus size blogger Meagan Kerr wears Kate Madison Check Shirt

I’ve been wanting to add a red and black check shirt into my closet for a long time but I have found it really hard to find one that’s a good fit for me – I have big boobs and button ups combined with shirts that have no stretch? It just doesn’t work. View Post

Back to basics

Plus size clothing basics - River Island Plus white scoop neck tee from River Island, Warpaint Joggers from 17 Sundays; Kate Madison Khaki Jacket from The Warehouse

As you might have noticed, I haven’t been sharing very many outfit photos lately. I mentioned that I’d lost my mojo and have been struggling with feeling confident in front of the camera since I had my hair cut, and while I’ve been recovering from surgery, and this is the first outfit post I’m posting on my blog in more than a month.  I might have been quiet lately, but I’m back with a fresh head of colour and I’m going back to basics. Time to find my mojo again. View Post

Sculptured

One thing I’ve noticed in the world of plus size fashion, is how often we use terms like flattering to describe clothes that create the illusion of you being smaller, more hourglass shaped (which is apparently the ideal body shape) or that hide supposed “flaws”. Quite often, people tell me that things I wear are not flattering because they accentuate my wide hips or they are fitted to my body or, in complete contradiction, are not fitted to my body. Hide yourself in fabric, but not too much or you’ll look fat. View Post
