Frugal February

Frugal February Clothing Rack

I’m usually one of those people who makes plans, but the other day I made a spontaneous decision and I feel like I need to tell you about it because if I don’t then no one will know and I’ll just back out of it and it will never happen. After reading a post from Fern at The Fern Life’s decision to cut back on her Kmart spending, I’ve decided that I’m going to join her in taking on the Frugal February challenge. I’ve decided that I’m not going to spend any money this month that doesn’t need to be spent. Continue reading

How you talk about your body

Meagan Kerr Kmart One Piece Plus Size Swimsuit

It’s really easy to make negative throwaway comments about yourself, whether it’s how smart you are, how you look without makeup or your body. I notice it all the time, I overhear in dressing rooms, at the beach, and see it on social media. I notice it most in summer, when you have a combination of the pressure of having a bikini body and all the “New Year, New Me” diet nonsense being thrown at you. Babes, we need to stop doing this, we need to stop putting ourselves down! Continue reading

Can I wear black to a wedding?

New Zealand plus size blogger Meagan Kerr wears 17 Sundays Arrow Print Dress

Wedding season is coming up and with it comes a question I get asked every year – “can I wear black to a wedding?”. Tradition states that wearing black to a wedding is a no no, apparently because it’s the colour of mourning and means that you don’t approve of the marriage. Sounds a bit passive-aggressive if you ask me! Continue reading

Hair removal 101

Brought to you by Marzena

What kind of hair removal is best?

When I first started shaving my legs and underarms as a teenager it was definitely because that’s what seemed to be expected of me as a woman. If I didn’t, I got teased at school when I got changed for gym class. There was a few years in my 20’s where I grew out my underarm hair and didn’t care whether guys preferred a full bush or none at all, but now I choose to remove my hair because my genes have seen me blessed with thick dark hair that I find itchy and irritating for my skin. I still don’t care if guys prefer a full bush or not. Continue reading

How to be body confident in the bedroom

Meagan Kerr wears Autograph Plus Size Lingerie // How to be body confident in the bedroom

I get a lot of people asking me about having sex as a fat girl and how to be body confident in the bedroom, so I thought it was about time we sat down and had “the talk”. So let’s talk about sex, baby!

Whether you’re getting in to bed with a new partner and feeling a bit shy, wanting to be a bit more adventurous, coming to terms with your body changing, or just feeling a bit self conscious about bits that jiggle, it’s okay. I get it. Learning to love your body is one thing, but getting naked with another person (or more than one person) is a whole other deal altogether, right? Not to worry babe, I’ve got your back! Where to buy plus size lingerie

Where to buy plus size lingerie

One thing I always get asked about is plus size lingerie. I’m not just talking about granny pants and t-shirt bras, I’m also talking about sexy lingerie. I like to wear lingerie that makes me feel great – whether it’s under my work clothes or getting dressed up for a hot date, not because I’m dressing for someone else but because I’m dressing to make myself feel like a sassy, confident goddess. Say goodbye to chub rub

More ways to beat chub rub

I’m going to be blunt – chub rub sucks. There is nothing glam about chafing, which can be the bane of summer. It doesn’t matter if you’re fat, thin or somewhere in between, chub rub can happen to people of any size – it’s when your thighs rub together when you walk, causing friction. It sucks so much that every year when summer rolls around I get people asking me about how to avoid chafing. I decided to take one for the team and try out some solutions to help you say goodbye to chub rub. Continue reading

Spring clean your wardrobe

How to spring clean your wardrobe

Have you ever looked in your wardrobe and despite having lots of things in there, you’ve got nothing to wear? Welcome to the story of my life. I have some favourite pieces that I have on constant rotation, and the rest kind of sit there sadly, being worn once every so often (or not at all). As I’ve made the decision to refine my style and go back to a more neutral colour palette, I thought it was high time to clean out my closet. A few people wanted to know how to spring clean your wardrobe, so here are a few tips to help you out. Continue reading
