Swimsuit Special 2015: High Waisted Bikini

Summer in New Zealand is really from late December to mid-late March, making now the prime time to get your swimsuit on and head to the beach. If you’ve decided that you’re going to rock a two piece this summer and want a bit of extra coverage on your tummy or you love the look of vintage swimsuits then high waisted is the way to go.

High Waisted Plus Size Swimwear

Hands up who likes a halterneck bikini? If you love the look of a halterneck but hate the pressure that the knot puts on your neck, try tying it in a different spot. One of the Aussie Curves babes has a clever hubby who tied hers at the front (like a corsage!) – genius! Available in sizes XL-3XL

SHOP IT: Bandeau Halter Top Bikini (US $12.90) and Ruched High Waisted Bikini Bottom (US $11.90); Tribal Print Bikini Top (US $16.90) and High Waisted Tribal Print Bikini Bottoms (US $14.90), all from Forever 21

High Waisted Plus Size Swimwear GabiFresh

The gorgeous GabiFresh‘s latest Swim Sexy collection is out (check out her post about it here), and hands down, my favourite is the City Slicker Wrap Bikini. HOT HOT HOT!!! I love a swimsuit that gives a little hint of flesh rather than being super skimpy (which you will see later in the week, as I am about to shoot a swimsuit post…). Available in US sizes 16-24 (AU/NZ 20-28).

SHOP IT: GabiFresh City Slicker Wrap Underwire High Waist Bikini in D/DD or E/F cups (US $68.60) from Swimsuits For All. You can pre-order your bikini now, shipping on 30th January 2015.

High Waisted Plus Size Swimwear

I absolutely adore this tropical floral print! While florals are popular every spring and summer, this season they have been particularly popular with black backgrounds. I love the way the beautiful bright colours really pop from the black! Available in US sizes 10-24 (AU/NZ 14-28).

SHOP IT: Swim Sexy Islander Halter High Waist Bikini (US $40.60) from Swimsuits For All.

High Waisted Plus Size Swimwear

I’ve noticed that a few of you prefer to wear swim skirts or dresses, so this one is for you! I find the ruched swimwear I have to be the most flattering on me because the way the fabric sits means that it gives me a nice shape. You can also get the bikini bottoms to go with this suit, so you’ll have the best of both worlds! Available in US sizes 12-28 (AU/NZ 16-32).

SHOP IT: Twisted Bikini Top (US $54.50), Hi-Waist Swim Skirt (US $44.50) and Shirred High-Waisted Swim Bottom (US $38.50) from Torrid.

High Waisted Plus Size Swimwear

Monif C’s new season swimwear is also out, with pre-orders available until 26th January and shipping 27th February. This means that if you’re in New Zealand or Australia they should arrive just in time for the end of summer. As I mentioned before, I love cutout swimwear, and the straps on these swimsuits are absolutely divine. I’ll take one in every colour please! Available in US sizes 14-24 (AU/NZ 18-28).

SHOP IT: Guyana Banded Bikini Top (US $98.00) and Guyana Banded Bikini Bottoms (US $80.00) from Monif C.

High Waisted Plus Size Swimwear

I love animal print when it comes to swimwear, how about you? While I usually reach for a little bit of leopard, I’ve been seeing a lot of snake print that I’m really liking lately! Available in US sizes 10-24 (AU/NZ 14-28).

SHOP IT: Swim Sexy Pin Up Python Halter High Waist Bikini (US $40.60) from Swimsuits For All.

High Waisted Plus Size Swimwear GabiFresh

I will never not love chevrons! A little monochrome love paired with pink piping? Perfect!  Of course Gabi looks super hot in this suit too! Available in US sizes 16-24 (AU/NZ 20-28).

SHOP IT: GabiFresh Neon Accent Chevron Underwire Mid Waist Bikini in D/DD or E/F cups (US $68.60) from Swimsuits For All. You can pre-order your bikini now, shipping on 30th January 2015.

If you want a classic style with a classic print, ASOS Curve has some great options. From polka dots to pretty prints, bandeaus to halters, they have suits in every style! Available in sizes 16-28.

SHOP IT: ASOS Curve Spot Bandeau Bikini Top (AUD $9.00) and Highwaist Bikini Bottom (AUD $18.00); ASOS Curve Summer Rose Bikini Set (AUD $62.00) from ASOS.

Which one of these bikinis would you wear?

My bikini is the bottoms of the spotty asos one, and the matching top with straps – I love it! I like that it’s slightly higher waisted but still below my belly button

My current swimsuit is a one piece which I adore, but if I was going to get something else, it would be a high waisted one. I love the look of halter necks and wear them all the time, but the tan lines. OMG!
