Style It: The Women of Mad Men

Have you seen Mad Men yet? I’ve been watching it on Lightbox over the last few weeks and I can’t believe I haven’t seen it sooner. What I love most is the women of Mad Men – they’re strong and sassy (especially Joan Holloway, who is played by Christina Hendricks), and such snappy dressers!

If you want to be able to rock their fabulous 1960’s style then never fear – I’ve found some fantastic plus size dresses that are just divine!

I absolutely adore this dress. It’s the same one that Christina Hendricks is wearing in the picture above and such a stunning style! I like the rich green colour of this one, but if you’re after something a little different there are a number of colours to choose from including teal and black.

I love the detailing on the top of this dress! It comes in a variety of colours, but the houndstooth is my favourite. It would be perfect for a night out or for the office

Peter Pan collars have made a few appearances on Mad Men, on Joan Holloway (Christina Hendricks) and Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss). I’m loving this beautiful mustard shade and think that it’s a beautiful golden colour for spring!

One of the things I’ve noticed about Joan Holloway’s wardrobe is that the dresses are beautifully shaped to fit Christina Hendricks’ curves and emphasise her figure. When I wear something figure hugging I always feel like I have an extra wiggle in my walk, don’t you?!

Plaid features in Peggy Olson’s wardrobe quite often, and it’s something that never fails to look smart! Elisabeth Moss looks stunning in plaid, especially in earthy tones – for myself I think that this dress in the sunset colours of blues and oranges would be wonderful.
