Review: Essano Haircare

New Zealand style blogger Meagan Kerr uses Essano Haircare

When I decided to make my beauty routine cruelty free, I was seriously unimpressed by the fact that there were no cruelty free haircare options available from my local supermarket. While I don’t mind spending a little bit more on products that I know aren’t tested on animals, the price difference between salon products and supermarket brands can be a bit of a strain on my wallet. I’m happy to report though that I’ve finally found one, and it’s good – say hello to the Essano haircare range.

Essano Haircare Range

You might remember that Sarah-Jayne reviewed some of Essano’s skincare products on my blog a couple of years ago. They have a really great range that is cruelty free, full of organic goodness and most importantly, affordable, so I was super excited when I found out that they were launching an Essano haircare range as well. They’ve got three lines to choose from – the smoothing Keratin Complex, the hydrating Coconut Milk and the nourishing Argan Oil, so all you need to do it pick the product that deals with your hair concerns, easy! When they offered me the chance to try it out I couldn’t say no – I went for the nourishing line to give my hair a lot of TLC because it’s a bit dry, it’s a bit damaged and it needs a lot of love.

I have to say, I have never received as many compliments about my hair as I have since I’ve been using the Essano haircare range! My hair is soft, shiny, smooth … it’s basically everything I want my hair to be. I wash and condition my hair every 2-3 days, towel dry and add the argan oil, and then let it air dry. I don’t need to do anything else because it just does it’s own thing! When it’s humid, I still get a bit of frizz as it’s drying (which you can see below), but that’s normal for my hair in humid weather.

I am definitely a fan of this range – having something of such great quality available at my local supermarket makes all the difference for me. Happy hair and happy wallet – I’ve seen this at my local supermarket for $15.99 per product!

SHOP IT: Essano haircare is available in store or online at Countdown supermarkets, in store at New World supermarkets and from selected pharmacy stores nationwide.

    Hi,
I saw these in stores and really wanted to try them. Do you know if any of them are vegan?

I’ve recently started using the coconut milk range and I am so impressed! I picked it up on special at The Warehouse for $11 each but I suspect they were deleting the line, hence the price. I have a sensitive scalp and have had zero issues which is pretty unusual.

What a good score! Glad to hear it was kind to your scalp too 🙂

I’m thinking I’d like to try the nourishing as I tend to get split ends when my hair gets long and I’d really like to avoid that. I also have a flaky scalp but none of them seem to be aimed at that problem. I’ve just been trying MooGoo shampoo, but am not finding it that great so a locally available product would be better.

Locally available is always the stickler isn’t it? I am so stoked that you can get these ones from the supermarket

I love the Essano range and was planning on getting these new hair products once they came out but I ended up winning some on Instagram from Essano! I have been using the Argan Oil range and got the hair oil from the Beauty Review beauty vault to complete my collection. I am loving the range too. I had really been struggling with my hair and it was in such bad condition but these three products have really turned it around. Like you Meagan, I have been getting heaps of compliments on my hair since I started using it. Totally love these and I will be carrying on with them after the ones I won run out.
