Plus size winter style on a budget: Meagan Kerr wears Debut Snood from The Warehouse

When I asked you what you wanted to see more of, one of the resounding answers was how to wear plus size winter trends when you’re on a budget, so I’ve teamed up with my friends at The Warehouse to create a head to toe look that nails not one but two of this season’s trends for under $200, while still being versatile and working with what you already have in your wardrobe.

Two big trends at the moment are printed pants (which I’ve recently started rocking myself) and the ever popular monochrome, so I thought why not go for two birds with one stone?

THE TREND: PRINTED PANTS

I can’t believe I didn’t get in to this trend earlier, print pants are the easiest thing to wear! Pair them with a top in one of the colours featured in the print and you’re away laughing. Yep, it’s that simple! You can dress them up for the office with a blazer and heels or dress them down with a chunky knit and flats or ankle boots. This pair is made from a stretch fabric so they’re really comfortable to wear.

THE TREND: MONOCHROME

We all know that monochrome is popular every season – it’s pretty much a given. This season the focus is on prints, patterns and textures rather than block colour, meaning that the printed pants I got do the job perfectly. Paired with a plain black ¾ sleeve top (a wardrobe essential, perfect for layering), this outfit needed a little something extra in terms of texture so I picked up a knit vest with buckle detailing to add some texture. If you want to add a pop of colour to brighten up your outfit then the perfect way to do this is with a snood or scarf – this cerulean blue snood is soft and warm, making it perfect for snuggling in to on a cold day.

Thinking about my style this winter, the word that sums it up is texture. I’m going to be wearing lots of gorgeous chunky knits, soft luxe fabrics (like that snood) and pieces with eye-catching detailing – all of which I can find at The Warehouse!

What word describes your winter style?

I would love to see more wide leg, stretchy long pants with elastic waists, so many are crop pants and are not nice and wide so we dont have to show all our lumps and bumps 🙂

Hi Rachel, are you looking for activewear or everyday wear? I have purchased both long activewear pants (from the Active Intent brand) and full length trousers (from the Kate Madison brand) from The Warehouse!

Great vid Meagan, I’d like to see bigger size jackets and outerwear as some of the ones I’ve also seen in The Warehouse just don’t come bigger than an 18, thanks.

Thanks Sandra! The Warehouse stocks clothing up to a size 28 in their Kate Madison range, including a number of jackets (I have had a few myself over the years and find them super warm and comfortable). Is there a particular style you like in straight size that you’d like to see in their plus range? Feel free to send me a link or two xo

Hi Meagan. Love the look! Thinking aloud – It would be great if you could talk The Warehouse into increasing the size range on their Active Intent gear. Just because I am a ‘big girl’ does’n’t mean I don’t regularly exercise/do physical work 🙂

Thanks Lynne! I can definitely pass that on – I agree, I’d love to see a wider size range of activewear available at The Warehouse too!

I third that! They have some, but it’s nowhere near as nice as the smaller size products.

Is there something in particular that you wish came in bigger sizes? For me it’s definitely their crop tops, which are badass but always too small for my boobs.

I can’t think of a particular item as it’s been a wee while since I’ve looked but cool leggings are always a plus!

My winter style is not great – I really just try to stay warm! Am yet to try on a pair of printed pants but they do look super comfy. Loving your videos so hope you have another one soon.

Thanks Sarah! Warm is important – The Warehouse have some amazing merino pieces (including long tops that don’t ride up when you bend over – a blessing!), I got one of the long sleeved tops last year and I love it – I’m definitely going back to get more!

What an awesome video! Well done Meagan! I just got a snuggly cardy/jacket from the Warehouse – it’s been a great investment!

Thanks Heather, I had loads of fun making it 😀 I love my cardies and jackets from The Warehouse – I’ve got some I’ve had for at least 7 years and I’m still wearing them!
