Plus size lingerie: Autograph

For a long time, I thought that being a fat girl meant that I was doomed to a life of boring nana undies. Always plain black cotton, never any beautiful colours or sensual fabrics. All I can say is thank goodness for Rose & Thorne and Autograph – through them I have discovered a whole new world of plus size lingerie that is suitable for everyday wear!

Meagan Kerr Autograph Plus Size Lingerie and Ruby & Lilli Hello Lover Tee

I first shared a lingerie shoot featuring Autograph’s lingerie at the end of last year, talking about how important body diversity is and the role that bloggers play in that. I thought that it was about time to share some more treasures that I’ve found because I do so enjoy wearing them and I want you to be able to find lingerie that makes you feel great every day.

Meagan Kerr Autograph Plus Size Lingerie and Ruby & Lilli Hello Lover Tee

This particular design (worn with one of my new Ruby & Lilli shirts) is by Rose & Thorne for Autograph and it’s easily my favourite. They keep making these in a range of prints, and I fully intend to keep buying each new design as they come out because they just feel so darn nice!

There is a matching bra available as well, so you can really feel like you have your shit together and wear a matching set. Sadly, I don’t have my shit together and do not own any matching sets of underwear. The sole reason for this is that finding bras in my size seems to be a nigh on impossible task. One day it will happen – I know some fabulous lingerie goddesses who are working on this as we speak.

Meagan Kerr Elomi Naoko Bra

I have managed to find a couple of nice bras though, including this one by Elomi. The print is called Naoko and the design is one that they remake in different prints each season. They’re the first design I’ve found that fits well and is supportive in all the right places, so I’m going to be sticking with it! I get mine from Avokado (who sell lingerie and swimwear for D-K cup babes, but don’t always have a lot of larger back sizes in the larger cup range) but you can find Elomi in quite a few lingerie stores.

Meagan Kerr Autograph Plus Size Lingerie Goddess Brief and Elomi Naoko Bra

If you want something black and lacy then these are my super cute go to. I love that they have a mesh lace front but then a plain black back – it means that they’re really comfortable and even if your pants are on the tighter side (hello ponte pants and skinny jeans!), the patterns aren’t showing through.

Meagan Kerr Autograph Plus Size Lingerie Gabrielle Brief

Last but not least, these satin and lace briefs. I bought them thinking that they would be the same as the black lacy Goddess briefs but I find them very different to wear – mainly because the front is satin rather than lace, but also because they feel like they fit in a slightly different way. They are comfortable but somehow I feel more covered in them (perhaps due to choice in material?), and more supported.

It might be officially winter, but I know that under my layers of clothes I’m going to be wearing lingerie that makes me feel gorgeous. Will you? I’d love to hear what style of underwear you prefer – are you a mid-rise full brief babe like me, all about the bikini brief, rocking those granny pants, feeling sassy in a thong … or not an underwear person at all?

I’m off to buy those gorgeous Betty Boobs (looks like they are on sale too!). I used to flat with a lingerie sales rep – I felt a little inadequate as she had dozens of sets all hanging together in her wardrobe (yep she hung her knickers and bras!) and she couldn’t believe that I didn’t have one single matching set. I confess to being quite plain in the lingerie department since I discovered Jockey No Panty Line briefs, nana but comfy and the sizing is great – I’m a 26 and their 18’s fit me perfectly. Bras – ha I only wear one style, the Bendon first generation sports bra. Sad I know but I find lace itchy and this is the only bra I’ve found that does what it should and gives me the right shape etc. Have only just discovered your gorgeous and inspiring blog so off to have a wee look through 🙂

Good on you Julia! Sounds like I’ll have to check out the Jockey No Panty Line briefs! I am really particular about what lace I’ll wear – only the nice soft stuff, none of that scratchy nonsense! xo

On the big boob front, I find that getting fitted every time you need a new bra is the way to go. Rich Lingerie in Greenwoods Corner, Auckland is fantastic. Teresa is very well trained and she takes the time to make sure you are sitting correctly. I don’t think there’s a better bra fitter out there. I have used Avokado and here in Melbourne I use Brava but neither of them fit you as well as Teresa does at Rich.

I definitely agree, I get a fitting done every time I need a new bra – both because my size fluctuates and because sizing is different between brands

Simply stunning Meagan! This has reminded me, I need some new skimpies. I think I’ll treat myself. 🙂 xx

So, here I am wrestling with my sleepless nights when I come across this. Did you know your body is similar to mine?! How exciting! I didn’t realize it until AFTER I decided you were a lovely gorgeous woman (not that it matters your body is only to please you). Thank you for sharing pictures that im even afraid to take for my husband!

    • June 4, 2015 / 1:37 pm

Hurray for similar bodies! And I highly recommend getting nude and lingerie photos done – not for your hubby, for YOU! It’s such a great experience xo

Wow Meagan this photos are great! I seriously neglect this part of my wardrobe unfortunately. But when I do have nice underwear on it makes me feel quite good about myself so I think I need to make a few investments.

    • June 2, 2015 / 4:04 pm

Thank Jess! Definitely worth making the investment

I have some lovely undies from Autograph! Unfortunately the bras have not been so good to me, but they aren’t expensive so I don’t mind getting a couple if it means I can have a matching set for a while! That Elomi bra is gorgeous on you!
And I love that you are putting the sizes on your posts now – makes enabling so much easier (for example with those rubi and lilli tees which I’ve always been to scared will be too small for me!) Thanks for being awesome 😀

    • June 4, 2015 / 1:39 pm

Hey Anita – the sizes were by very popular request, it seemed so much easier considering the number of messages I got! I am a great enabler, apologies in advance to your bank account hehe

Beautiful pieces. I love it how you don’t have your shit together with matching sets! All my sets wear unevenly anyway and don’t look like sets for long! I’ve been meaning to go to Avokado for some new bras so reading this is perfect timing! Thank you!.

    • June 1, 2015 / 5:49 pm

Thanks Simonne! One day I’ll have it together with matching sets, but let’s be honest – who wears a different bra every day? At $100 a pop, I couldn’t afford bras to match my knickers anyway! I figure that so long as I have a nice selection I’m doing well.

It’s incredible how much pretty underwear under your clothes can make you feel. Last year I went through and threw out all my old boring, stretched, faded underwear and went a bit mad buying pretty lacy underwear (and one nice bra, because I found it impossible to get a bra that fit at the time). It changed me so much. I felt more confident and sexy.

I remember that and god, I am a boy briefs or mid-rise all the way and Meghan I have to say Kudos for this post as I am so self-concsious about my body , so seeing this post – you are now one of my idols.

Boy briefs! Yes, so comfy. And you’re more than welcome – I love to spread the body love, so hopefully some of my posts will help you work towards feeling less self conscious xo

I will be checking out autograph forthwith! I only have boring black undies from K-mart, but I do have some nice bras from City Chic.

Do you remember the days where g-strings were fashionable things?! GOOD LORD. Never again will I attempt to cram myself into the fabric equivalent of dental floss, I’m a mid-rise/full-brief fan all the way!

These are some seriously gorgeous pieces, Meagan.

    • June 1, 2015 / 10:41 am

Ugh, yes! I hate g-strings – they don’t make me feel sexy, just uncomfortable and awkward – full bum coverage all the way!

    • June 2, 2015 / 6:47 pm

I am #TeamGString!!! Undies ALWAYS end up in my crack so I might as well just have something small there haha.
