NZFW 2012: New Generation show

I was beyond excited to head along to the Viaduct Events Centre aka NZFW HQ for the New Generation show on Wednesday courtesy of my fave fashion crew DMONIC INTENT.

The New Gen Show is a group collection show of emerging designers that are selected by a panel of industry experts – this year the designers were DMONIC INTENT, Silence Was…, Daniel K., and Arielle Mermin.

The whole show was fantastic and I was so super excited that my notes were pretty non-existant. Also, I didn’t take a camera because I wanted to enjoy the show rather than being stuck behind a camera as I usually am.  So, no photos from me, this time. Instead, you can read my rave about how much I loved DMONIC INTENT’s collection!!! For a limited time you can view the show via TV3 On Demand – I suggest you check it out, it’s rad!

DMONIC INTENT’s collection EIGHT was amazing, with edgy garments that incorporated the Poutama pattern (the stepped pattern) that I thought was super striking and made them stand out from the other designers in the show.  DMONIC INTENT styled their whole collection really well, including some wicked latex stockings from Whipshhh Latex. My absolute favourite was a dress made entirely from woven strips of fabric, wow.  Because I was a bit slack on photos, I think you should head over to the SubCulture facebook page and check out the awesome photos that Bryan Lowe has been taking.  Trust me, it more than makes up for me not adding any here!

Daniel K.’s collection Ombres Chinoises was full of earthy organic tones, and the highlight for me was a full length moss green knit cardigan.  If I had any money, I would spend it on that.  Time to start saving!!!

Okay, I’m off to bed now because I’m heading back to NZFW tomorrow. This time, with my camera. I’ll keep you posted…
