Nautical Nonsense

City of Sails, Auckland New Zealand NZ

My favourite place to be is always near the ocean. Whether I’m at home in Auckland, in my hometown of Gisborne, or travelling about something always brings me back to water. It’s really no surprise that my favourite places in Auckland happen to be near the water. I took advantage of a spot of sunshine in what was a very cold windy weekend to head down and look at my city from across the harbour – and of course I had to go for a bit of a nautical theme with my outfit.

I’m loving this tulip skirt from Hope & Harvest – I haven’t had much of a chance to wear it because I bought it after the summer heat had faded, so I’m going to be popping it in my drawer and savouring it next summer when hopefully we will actually have more summery weather.

Most of my outfits tend to be a mix of old favourites with new pieces and designer pieces with more affordable ones, and this is no exception. For example, this grandpa cardigan? I’ve had that for about seven or eight years and it cost me about $15. Bargain! You really don’t need to spend a lot of money to put together a great outfit.

So what did I actually get up to? I enjoyed the breeze in my hair, I watched a man fish and I went for a walk along the waterfront. It was bliss.

What did you do this weekend?

That definitely looks like the view from under the bridge on the point! I like that view too, its a “secret spot” I’ve
liked since I was a kid

Its a great place to chill out. I go there with sushi and a can of coke and watch the water. 🙂

Yes! I took my boyfriend there to eat fish and chips as the sun set in summer, can’t wait to do it again next summer!

I love the shape of your skirt as well as the stripes! I’ve noticed I get lots of wear out of bargain pieces which become favourites. I watched Jurassic World at the weekend – it’s pretty awesome in 3D!

I love the shape too! I wasn’t sure how it would look but I am so convinced.

This outfit is gorgeous! I love it! Like you, I’m always drawn to the ocean.. and to be honest I hate being in landlocked areas too long. As well as the Far North, I’m a real sucker for Taranaki and all the beautiful black sand beaches down there. I’m hoping to one day own a bach down there and then spend life travelling from the Far North to Taranaki and back again hahahaha 😛 oxoxo
