Mother of Dragonscale

I’m not really doing anything for Halloween this year but I really wanted to dress up anyway because well, hello. I decided to dress up to the Halloween theme for the re-opening of Lush’s Newmarket store a couple of weeks ago and this may (or may not, we’ll see!) be the outfit I wear for Halloween as well.

I saw that Joolz Fashion was doing some of their circle dresses (like this one I have in the Fat Unicorn print) in Halloween prints and this dragonscale fabric caught my eye. Fast forward a bit and I saw Penny from Monaco Nail Academy doing a snakeskin nail art demo on Facebook, and Halloween costume sorted: I was going to be a dragon! I made an appointment with Penny to get my nails done, placed my order for the dress as soon as possible and started planning the rest of my outfit – my white trainers with gold glitter backs were the perfect shoes because what dragon doesn’t like sparkly treasure?

I was so happy with how the whole look came together – the dress, the nails and the sneakers – I thought they were the perfect combo and a great way to dress up without being super costumey. And the best part is that I’m going to be able to wear the dragonscale dress any day of the year, not just when I want to dress up! Circle dresses are super comfortable (circle skirts too – this one is also from Joolz Fashion) and as someone who has bigger hips than bust, I find them a really great go to style for a good fit.
