mblm by Tess Holliday for Penningtons

I’m always really excited when plus size brands announce new collections, so when Canadian clothing brand Penningtons announced their upcoming collaboration with plus-size model Tess Holliday, I got super excited. I love Tess’ style and knew that the collection would be right up my alley.

The fringed Hope In The Darkness top is my absolute favourite piece of what I’ve seen from the collection so far. It is definitely something I’d wear, and I’m already thinking about how I can work it into my wardrobe. With a pencil skirt, with leggings, with jeans, with shorts… bring it on! From what I’ve seen so far, there is a lot of monochrome which I am not mad about. I’m really looking forward to seeing the rest of the collection when it launches mid-March.

What I love most about this collection is not just how much I can picture myself wearing these pieces but how much I can picture Tess wearing them. That is exactly what I want to see from a collection by Tess, because that’s what gets me interested in it, that it’s her style. Not someone else’s interpretation of her style, not a watered down version, this has Tess Holliday written all over it, and I’m excited!

If you’re not familiar with Penningtons, they’re a plus size retailer in Canada that stocks sizes US14-32 (that’s 18-36 in NZ sizes). They’ve got all kinds of clothes, lingerie, sleepwear, outerwear, activewear, swimwear, accessories, footwear, hosiery… basically they’re a one stop shop for all things plus size fashion. I really wish that we had more stores offering this kind of range here in New Zealand, but for now I’m going to have to stick to shopping their online store. Unfortunately they don’t ship here yet (only to the US and Canada), but you can always use a forwarding service like YouShop if you spy something that catches your eye.
