Deep Blue Lake

I’ve had so much fun over the last week in the beautiful central North Island town of Taupo, and now that I’m back in Auckland I am seriously missing my daily swims in the freshwater lake! In my dream life, I would live somewhere that I could swim every day of the year. In a deep blue lake, with sandy shores.

I learned to swim when I was very very young and have always been comfortable in, on and around the water. I swam competitively when I was at school, and love kayaking. I’m terrible at surfing but am not too bad at body surfing. I did a spot of lifesaving when I was at school and even did a boatmaster’s course!

As my body has changed, through fat and thin, I have loved the water. There is something familiar about it, and no matter where I am, whether it is a bath tub, a spa pool, a lake, a river or an ocean, I feel at home. I might live in a large city at the moment, but one day I hope to live closer to water. Until then, I’ll have to make do with trips to the beach, to the local pool, and away to the lake.

If all else fails, I’ll just run back and forth past the sprinkler in the garden. Anyone else remember doing this when they were a kid?

Are you a water baby? I think it’s so important to at least be confident and comfortable in the water, and am a very big advocate of water safety. Seeing as it’s summer, why not check out your local swim school – most of them offer swimming lessons at all age and skill levels!

Yep! I am a total water baby. I grew up most of my life with a pool, so I was extremely lucky. I really miss swimming now, I don’t get to do it enough! I like your idea about the sprinkler, may have to try that!

I can never wear a swimsuit without wearing shorts because I’ve always had a fear that my hooha would show or if I’m wearing a two piece, someone would take off my bikini. 🙁 I think the fear came from the video I watched wherein a group of people would take down women’s skirts or whatever and some of them weren’t wearing any undies so their hoohas would show on camera. I think it was supposed to be a prank but IDK. :/ I also don’t know how to swim so I usually just stand there or take pictures. Hahaha! 🙂

I love the water, especially the beach, and hubby and I are thinking of going to live at the Gold Coast in a couple of years. And we always go on holidays there in June. This year we are going for 3 weeks and can’t wait 🙂

Love your swim suit Meagan! I too love the water and prefer lakes if I get a choice. Like you, I swam as a child and is very comfortable around water, which we are trying to instill in our son who also loves water. Swim safety is oh so important and we all need to know how to swim.
