My cruelty free daytime makeup look

Recently, PharmacyToday interviewed me and some of my other blogging friends (Laura from Laura Loves Beauty, Cass from Cassandra Myee and Morgan from Hyacinth Girl) about beauty trends for this coming spring and summer – you can check out the article here.

Since I made the switch to cruelty free I’ve discovered some amazing new cosmetics, and I wanted to share some of them with you, so here is my cruelty free daytime makeup look – natural with a bold lip.

One of the things that I thought I would have a bit of trouble finding when I made the switch to cruelty free was a good BB cream. I was really smitten with the one I was using before, but sadly it’s not cruelty free so I had to find something else. La Mav BB Crème is a bit of a different texture to the ones I’ve tried in the past (it’s thicker), but I like it because it provides good coverage, it’s long lasting and it makes my skin look great!

PRO TIP: Make sure your face is well moisturised prior to applying La Mav BB Crème. This product sets quite quickly, so I recommend applying it to your face in small sections and blending well with your fingertips.

Australis Stayput Eyeliner has been a fave of mine for a while now (it’s retractable rather than being a regular eyeliner pencil), and now I’ve added the Killer Curves Mascara to my Australis collection. I’ve been using Australis since I first began using cosmetics and it’s still just as amazing some ten or so years later!

Another new discovery for me is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade, which I apply with an Eye of Horus Brow Brush. I’m really liking the defined look the pomade gives my brows (you can see what they look like below!). It’s perfect for making my brows look fuller while I’m growing them out!

And last but not least, my favourite find of spring – Karen Murrell’s Coral Dawn Lipstick. I love orange toned lipsticks and this gorgeous shade is the perfect pop of brightness!

What hair and makeup trends are you loving for spring and summer?

Hi Meagan, long time reader first time poster. Love your look in this post! I am keen to start using more natural products and am wondering if you have any shampoo and conditioner/hair products recommendations?? I have tried a few “organic” shampoos and find they leave my hair greasy and weight it down as they don’t really “lather”…..I’m also in Australia so maybe whatever you use won’t be available here?

Hi Angela, I’ve got a few I can recommend – I’m using Sorbet at the moment, they have solid shampoo and conditioner bars and you can choose based on your hair’s needs. Also, Lush has some good ones. They would be my two faves! I hope that helps – let me know how you get on! xM

I’m going to get Dipbrow as soon as I’ve finished my ELF brow kit, it looks so good! Have you tried Oasis Beauty? They’re NZ made and cruelty free, I have a sample of their BB cream and really like it.

ELF is next on my list – how are you finding it? I tried the Oasis Beauty BB cream but didn’t like how it felt on my skin. It just never seemed to sit right, which is a shame. I haven’t tried any of their other stuff though.

I like the brow kit but am wanting to upgrade to something even better! I’ve had some hits and misses with ELF but mostly I like everything I’ve got from there. I mainly buy from iherb but also from kmart too. I love Oasis, their ‘Rhino Repair’ has saved my eczema-ridden skin. I reviewed some of their other products a little while ago – http://lenatalksbeauty.com/2014/08/22/a-look-at-oasis-beauty-products/
