Be your own Valentine

Be your own Valentine

I’m sure it hasn’t escaped your notice that Valentine’s Day is coming up – my inbox has been flooded with emails suggesting chocolates, jewellery, lingerie … you know, the usual. But as I’m sure you’ll remember from previous years, I’m personally not a big fan of Valentine’s Day because I don’t think that you should only celebrate your love for others (whether they’re friends, family or your partner) once a year. I think that you can do that any day. This year, I’ve decided to be my own Valentine.

Doug will be working an evening shift, which gives me the perfect opportunity to cosy up and treat myself. I’m going to get myself a posy of flowers (I either get mine from my local dairy or pick them from my garden), light one of my ECOYA candles and make myself a platter of my favourite snacks.

After I’ve finished nibbling on tasty snacks, I’m going to put on a face mask and a hair mask before running myself a bath. I found this super cool Unicorn Horn Bubble Bar in Lush’s Valentine’s Day Collection (check out the full range here) and knew I had to buy it. It turns your bath into a beautiful pastel coloured bubble filled wonderland, and it smells like lavender, which is a nice relaxing scent and just perfect for feeling pampered.

While I soak in the tub I’m going to read a book. I’ve been really getting in to reading again this year and trying to read more things for pleasure rather than just books for research. I’ve set a goal on Goodreads (you can see what I’m reading here) to get through at least 20 books this year and already I’m well on my way because I’m making more time to read – like when I’m in the bath – and I’m loving it.

The team at Lush sent me this gorgeous massage bar to try, so after my bath, it’s time to get my massage on. Now I know you’d normally think of massage as something you’d do for someone else, but I think it’s really nice to do on myself as well. I’m going to massage my arms (just like they do when you visit a Lush store – ask them in store for a demo if you’ve never had one), hands and feet, and my skin is going to feel so nice and soft. A bit more reading and then I’m going to have an early night, I’m already super excited about this! Bring on the pampering.

I have valentines day off so I plan on some self care. I’ll take a book and find a warm spot by the beach. Bliss

I’m the same, don’t do Valentines, so what better than some pampering for myself. I too have a big reading goal this year. Love reading for some time out to myself. I’d love a luxurious Lush bath 🦄

I’m so in need of some pampering! Didn’t get to go away for a break in Jan with my hubby as he had to work 🙁 And I’ve just spent 3 days in hospital with a pregnancy scare at 32 weeks so a pampering session is very much in order. All these products sound absolutely gorgeous!!

We don’t have any plans for valentines as it’s been a pretty expensive last 2 months with our 1 year wedding anniversary last month, Christmas and family birthdays. So I think it’ll be a home cooked meal and a movie on the couch for valentines day.

I’m getting my hair done up styled in a salon, then coming home to relax with my fiance. This is our last engaged valentines day. After this we will be married!

This would be devine – soaking in the bath with low lights and fizzing soothing scents would be where it’s at Valentine’s night! I plan to go out with friends for a 2 for 1 dessert night and catch up first 😉

I will cook a nice dinner and dessert. It’s a week night and we have kids but doing all that you suggested above after they go to sleep sounds perfect!

I’m trying to take a leaf out of your book and do frugal February… so plans for Valentine’s day are very k.i.s and hoping to just remind my mam hire much I love him… he’ll most likely get breakfast in bed with a rose from the garden ❤

This year for Valentines Day I will be hosting our Valentines dinner at the student hostel I live at. I also think I might buy myself some flowers too or pick some daisies on my walk to class. A girl has got to get some flowers at some point in her life and it doesn’t matter if they are from herself ❤

I don’t really do a lot for Valentines day – it is a mixed bag as my granddad died on Valentines day back in 1993 so I like to remember him as well as eat chocolate and relax.

  16. February 1, 2017 / 7:44 pm

Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate and maybe 50 shades movie if I can escape the kids 😁

I’m a bit like you Meagan, in that I don’t “believe” in Valentine’s Day. But I might make my husband a cake (that we can both eat)! That Lush prize pack would be amazing!

I had no plans for Valentine’s Day, but after reading your suggestions on being your own Valentine, I might just take a leaf out of your book and do exactly the same. It sounds like a great idea.

I’ve never celebrated Valentines Day with anyone. It sounds super sad but I’ve never been interested in having a partner to celebrate it with.
That Unicorn Horn Bar looks awesome! I must venture in to Lush one of these days to try their products

We all deserve some special treatment occasionally, and what a dream to be a Lush beneficiary! I cannot walk past their shops without catching the aroma that typifies the business culture – fresh, indulgent, very special.

i have no special plans, My hubby doesnt normally do anything special. he believes we should celebrate with little things during the year not on a specific dictated day.. so it will be business as usual. would love to win as never tried lush products before. there is no store close to me, nearest is about 60kms away..
