Back to basics

As you might have noticed, I haven’t been sharing very many outfit photos lately. I mentioned that I’d lost my mojo and have been struggling with feeling confident in front of the camera since I had my hair cut, and while I’ve been recovering from surgery, and this is the first outfit post I’m posting on my blog in more than a month.  I might have been quiet lately, but I’m back with a fresh head of colour and I’m going back to basics. Time to find my mojo again.

I function best when I am in a routine, so I’ve made myself a schedule with time for blogging, time for the work I do with clients, time to go to the gym, and most importantly – time off. Giving myself down time is important, and I know that I (along with a lot of other people who work for themselves!) am not particularly good at switching off so I need to make sure it’s scheduled into my calendar. We took these pictures on a rare day that Doug and I were both not working, and had the time to go and do a bit of exploring at a beach near us. A classic Sunday drive…

Scheduled time for blogging means more blog posts, so if there is something you’d love me to write about, something you need advice on, a piece of clothing you want to know how to style, anything – let me know below or send me a PM okay?

I’m going back to basics with my wardrobe as well – it’s time to sort through my clothes and figure out what I’m loving and what I don’t wear any more. I’ve realised that I have pieces that I love so much that I wear them over and over and over (like these joggers, they’re super comfortable and make a regular appearance in my outfit lineup), and then there are others that I’ve worn once or twice and then they hang around in my wardrobe not being worn. Time to find them new homes and get my closet sorted.

The last project I’m working on to get my mojo back is in my bedroom. Over the last few months I’ve spent so much time in there as I’ve been recuperating, that it no longer feels like a place for me to relax and recharge. I’ve been working on change things up a bit, and will make sure I share the finished result with you soon – I’m just waiting for my bed to arrive!

Really, finding my mojo again is about getting order in my life again. It feels like things have been in disarray since my surgery in April, but I’m slowly finding myself again. Don’t you worry about me babes, this bitch is back.

Any suggestions for finding your mojo again?

    Hi Meagan. Love your blog!
You mentioned finding a new home for some of your clothes.
Can you please do a post on this as I’m never sure what to do with clothes I no longer want (both selling and gifting).
Any corporate type clothes I would normally donate to Dress for Success.
With other clothes I’d normally put in a clothing bin cos its easy but would rather be giving them to someone who needs them.
    Thanks

Thanks Paula! I sell some of mine on Facebook and Trade Me, and the rest I donate to Women’s Refuge and a local SPCA shop (because those are the charities I support). Perhaps you could talk to local refuges or similar services in your area to see what’s needed?

I’m only a recent UK follower, but I’m looking forward to receiving your future posts. I know just what you mean about your hair – I recently thought I should “grow old gracefully” (I’m 60) and changed my hair from bright copper to light brown.
Big mistake (only for ME – nobody with light brown hair be offended, PLEASE! ;-D) – so went back to salon yesterday and am back to me!
I even smiled at myself in the mirror as I got up this morning. (Think my eye was drawn to my hair, rather than my wrinkles!!)
You’re such a positive, breath-of-fresh-air to read, here’s to ‘getting your mojo back’!

Glad to hear that you’re back to feeling yourself again Lis, I think (for some of us) our hair is so important to our personal expression. It’s great to have you here ❤️ xM
