As any glasses wearer will know, picking the right frames for your face can be a big deal. I remember the first few pairs of glasses I chose I picked out because they were what was fashionable at the time, not because I really liked them. They were all totally wrong for me – they didn’t really fit my style, they didn’t suit my face shape and I found them uncomfortable. Of course, that meant that I avoided wearing them, making them a complete waste of money (not to mention they didn’t help my eyesight at all). Every time I have to choose new frames I worry that I’m going to end up with a pair that I hate, but since I picked out my current pair (which I’ve been wearing for almost two years now and still love), I’ve learned what style of frame suits both my style and my face. Have you ever put on a dress and immediately felt absolutely amazing in it? That’s how I felt the minute I shimmied into the Ambrosia dress from IGIGI. When I looked at it on their website I thought it was beautiful, but I’ll admit that it took a moment of bravery to order it. It’s curve hugging and it leaves no room to hide: to me it’s a bold dress. I almost chickened out and chose something else, but I’m so glad I went with this, because it honestly makes me feel like a million bucks. View Post
It’s Earth Day today, and in the past I’ve done things like spend an evening with friends not using electricity (backyard candlelit BBQs are so much fun!), but this year I wanted to take a moment to think about how we could be making more environmentally conscious fashion and beauty choices. It might seem like a small thing, and it might seem silly to some, but the choices that you make as one person or as a family, they add up. View Post

When I was a young girl I used to love baking, but I really disliked following a recipe. Don’t get me wrong, I follow instructions but I have always struggled with the concept of doing something for an outcome somebody else designed.
I wanted to make cupcakes that were entirely my own. Yes, they would have the fundamentals: butter, sugar, baking powder and so on – but if I wanted to make them pink, that’s what I would do. If I wanted to add chocolate chips, then so be it. View Post
So, I’m having surgery on Tuesday and feeling pretty anxious about it. Some of you know that I’ve been having some issues on and off for a few years now, and I haven’t wanted to talk about it much, simply because I haven’t had the answers I needed to be able to tell you what’s going on. But now I do, so bring on all of the oversharing (this is why I’m a blogger right? Because I’m all about the overshare?). View Post
