With the Melbourne Cup on this week, the Aussie Curves ladies have been donning their frocks and fascinators. I have a great love of horses and racing, but sadly had to miss the Melbourne Cup festivities in favour of study this year – a bit of a change from the days when I would wag school to go down to the local track to watch the horses race!
For my race day outfit, I decided to wear this gorgeous Harlow wrap dress. Funny story – I wore this dress last week when it was really windy and had a wardrobe malfunction at the supermarket. Obviously a wrap dress is just wrapped around and tied, and the top piece of fabric got lifted up by the wind. Ooh! Marilyn moment while my arms were full of groceries…
It’s been windy again this week, so to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions I decided to pop a slip underneath. Good thinking, Batman…
Looking sweet and demure
I chose neutral make-up with a bold red lip (it’s Karen Murrell’s Scarlet Blaze in case you were wondering), and my hair was still straight from my photo shoot on Sunday so I figured that I may as well leave it that way and just add a simple black fascinator. This is a beautiful fascinator but a total pain to wear as it’s on a headband but not fixed, meaning that it slides about all over the place. A few quick stitches should keep it in place, so I must remember to do that before I next wear it.
That didn’t last long, back to my usual minxy self.

Do it! Copper would look so good on you! I’d definitely recommend waiting until Autumn though (that’s what you’re planning, right?), because it will fade so fast over summer

I will be. I keep trying to wait given how often I go to the pool at the moment and to the beach in general. The copper would need to be topped up weekly! Haha. Hard to resist though with you looking so darn fine.
