Ask Meagan: Your questions about plus size style, self love and life as a curvy babe

I get a lot of people asking me questions about styling, body confidence, self love, exercising, where to shop… you name it. I wanted to put a call out and ask you: what do you want to know? This is your chance to Ask Meagan and take advantage of my wealth of knowledge about plus size style, self love and life as a curvy babe.

So tell me, what burning questions do you have? Do you want to know how to tie a scarf, style printed pants, dress for your body shape? Or maybe you want to know how to be body confident on the beach? What is the best cruelty free deodorant or ways to stay motivated to exercise in winter? Hit me with your questions, I’d love to help.

I’m going to do my best to answer as many of your questions in upcoming blog posts as I can, so leave me a comment below (or send me a PM on Facebook if your question is a bit personal or you want to keep your name on the down low) and I will see what I can do!

I am sick and tired of being embarrassed to see people I haven’t seen in a while, just because I’m fatter than I was 2 years ago. I was never skinny but now I’m a size 18 and my mind set pisses me right off. Your blog, and others like it, help me to see the beauty in all of us but Damn if I can’t take a sip of my own medicine and see the same in my body. I am pretty happy with the person I am and I don’t kick puppies or push over old people so why do I focus on the ‘bad’ rather than being proud of all the awesome things I have and am??

I don’t know if that’s really a question I can answer, but I can tell you that seeing a therapist and developing a better relationship with my body was quite helpful for me – make sure you’re being kind to yourself xo

Hey Cass, different brands and different bra shapes fit differently so it may be that you haven’t found the right one for you. I recommend getting a fitting done at Rose & Thorne because they have a really good range with different shapes with the idea being that once you find your ideal shape with them, you can then pick from a range of fabrics. You can buy their bras online and through The Warehouse as well, but I definitely recommend having the fitting done first.

Go to your nearest Bendon store – they have a good range of bras to pick from.

I’ve had some interesting experiences with Bendon – I have found their fit service to be not very good (like, had 5 fittings in different stores and been sent away with bras that didn’t fit properly each time), and the range for bigger sizes to be quite poor. I guess it depends what size you’re looking for though.

    This is a big opportunity!
I know it’s difficult to accept ourselves, specially in this society, but I think you can really help your followers to be good!

The topic I struggle with … Flying Fat! I am so freaked out about it I keep putting off my destination wedding … I am so confident in every other aspect of my life and body … But airplanes literally stop me cold with dread. I haven’t been on a plane in 13 years and I am so sick of missing opportunities because this is the one hurdle I haven’t been able to get over!

I’m having trouble reacting calmly when assmptions are made about my heath in relation to my size, mostly by medical professionals who won’t let up until they can see for themselves that my BP, thyroid and cholesterol are all perfect. One GPs first reaction to my depression was to put me on weightloss medication which made it worse rather than an antidepressant. How do you react and stand up for yourself in these situations?
