After being firmly on #TeamAshley all the way through Season 14 of Project Runway, I was eagerly awaiting the launch of Ashley Nell Tipton for Boutique+ by JCPenney. I wish I’d been able to attend the launch today in New York, but your gal is on a budget so I’ve had to rely on the internet to get my fashion fix! I wanted to share a few of my favourite pieces with you, because this collection is awesome and I know some of you will love the 50’s aesthetic as much as I do.

The collection includes boyfriend tees; cropped cape-sleeve blouses; bomber and moto jackets; slashed knee jeggings; quilted pencil and box pleat skirts. The colour palette is very fall-inspired, with rose tan, indigo, olive and black cherry complemented by staple black and white; plus there are sequins, stripes and a sassy lipstick print. Here are some of my favourite pieces…

This outfit absolutely SCREAMS Ashley Nell Tipton to me and I love it because stripes and crop tops are my jam! Add in a gorgeous box pleat skirt and my heart is melting. I love the matchy-matchy vibe but also feel like these would be great separates so bonus points for versatility. Both the crop top and the skirt come in three different colours/prints as well (basic black, a lipstick print on black and this peachy rose and black stripe) so you can have allllll of the options – check out the mix and match outfit below to see those other colourways.

Sparkle Boyfriend Tee, Moto Jacket with Chiffon and Pull On Slashed Knee Leggings (Photo by Jason DeCrow/Invision for JCPenney/AP Images)

This outfit is very noticeably 50’s inspired – think the T-Birds meet the Pink Ladies! The jeggings and the moto jacket are softened with the dusty rose tee and the chiffon of the jacket. I’m not too sure how I feel about the chiffon addition to the jacket, I would definitely prefer it without it. It looks like one of the other outfits had a chiffon-less version (see below with the pencil skirt that comes in three colour options!), so I’m hoping that pops up online soon because it is seriously badass and I would wear it with everything!

Long-Sleeve Lace-Up Knit Dress (Photo by Jason DeCrow/Invision for JCPenney/AP Images)

I love everything about this dress – the gorgeous colour that is perfect for autumn (I know it’s spring here but it’s autumn in the Northern Hemisphere and we all know I’m an autumn girl at heart); the sleeve length, the lace up detail that is so on trend right now … I would pair this with a pair of black stockings and some boots and I’d be away laughing. YES PLEASE!

Graphic Boyfriend Tee, Sequin-Sleeve Bomber Jacket and Pleated Faux-Leather Skirt (Photo by Jason DeCrow/Invision for JCPenney/AP Images)

There are two things I love about this outfit. The first is that bomber jacket, because that is a killer statement piece (and in case you were wondering, the statement is that you are a badass BABE). The second is the pleated faux leather skirt, because OMFG. And I notice that it also comes in black, although that’s not on the JCPenney website yet. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

I’m happy to report that pricing for the collection is very reasonable and I notice that JCPenney currently have a sale on so if you’re quick you will be able to get some sweet bargains! Ashley Nell Tipton for Boutique+ goes up to a US 30W and 5X, and you can shop the collection here (yes, they do ship to New Zealand!). There’s going to be a holiday capsule available from October 28th that promises to continue the ‘50s aesthetic with faux fur pieces and shimmery festive embellishments, so I’m really looking forward to that. I can’t wait to see more from Ashley Nell Tipton – this first collection for Boutique+ by JCPenney is stunning.

What do you think of the collection?
Let me know what pieces you’re lusting after!

I wish we could have been there, it looked like an amazing day – while the plus community seems small, sometimes it’s a bummer that we are so far away!

Amazing collection! I went to CurvyCon on New York this year and got to see her there. A very inspirational person.
